Supreme Power Front Lowering Perches Question/Concern
Hey guys.
I recently installed Koni Sports and 2011+ 135i M-Sport springs on my 128i and noticed that the front has been raised from a 2 finger gap to a 3 finger gap. I am extremely satisfied with how the car now feels, but am a bit annoyed that front height since I loved the original stance of the car. I was told that this gap could be solved through the use of SP Lowering Perches and I was wondering for anybody who was using them what risks I have using these. Will I be at a high risk of stressing/bottoming out my suspension? Will this change the handling characteristics of my car for the worse? Please let me know. Thanks! |

Hey. The e90post has a SP perch thread
There are no risks, but I think they reduce shock travel by 5-10mm. I saw the Xi guys calculating it in the vendors thread, for them every bit counts. I don't think it impacts our performance. They work by making the perch sit higher/ closer to top mount's top edge. That is why they lower a spring by 10mm They are well made and recently have a revised design(black paint) for even easier installation on even lowering springs. They are quite thick metal I will post some photos of gender gap for you since you have the same set up

One other item that can help is a top mount for e9x e8x Msport suspension vs nonMsport
That one lowers 10mm based on its design E90post suspension forum also has a discussion about using M3 top mounts. I don't know if it will solve the roadblocks

Just remembered someone here on 1addicts in this sub forum installed Camber plates for a coilover vs shock spring version and saw their height drop 35mm
That probably is best idea since you have height to spare and they are functional

Hey man thanks for the info. I actually started this thread in response to some stuff you made me aware of in my suspension overhaul thread.
I actually ended up getting the perches from Supreme Power and have them install them for me (I live literally down the street from them surprisingly). I have an M Sport car, so the top mount are probably already what you were suggesting. They actually told me to replace them since they were very worn down. Anyways. The car looks much more even now. The front still is not as low as it was with the 128i M Sport springs, but the gap has come back to a 2 finger gap + maybe 3-5mm, which is enough for me.

Yes two finger gap. It looks acceptable and I think very functional for the roads, speedbumps, parking ramps
Your top mounts and suspention will settle with some time too. At first my car with SP had a 3 finger gap
