stock 261m rear wheel in front
Has anyone seen a 261m rear wheel (8.5") used up front? I like the way those wheels look and rather then buy a whole set of 4 new wheels, it might be easier to buy two used ones.
I know that Apex makes this 8.5" wheel - http://www.apexraceparts.com/EC-7-18...eel_p_156.html It has a +45 offset. From what i've read in the official wheel/tire fitment thread, it seems possible to run a 245 without rubbing as long as you hit the offset just right. And it is 100% possible to run a 235 up front. What size spacer do you guys think this would this need? |

Why run such a wide winter tire?? If you get snow, its more beneficial to have a narrower tire. Check out a 215 or even 225 width tire or even better, pick up a set of 17" steelies and run 195/205s for CHEAP.

And I agree, in the winter, run the skinniest tire you can find. |

205/50/17 WS70s with 4x silver steelies is 968+shipping brand new. Not a bad deal for something that should last 3-4 years depending on conditions |

I'm running 245 on an 8 inch wheel. The front are 18x8. I got 245 because when I was looking for the tires, tire rack didn't offer 215 or 225 in blizzaks. I have zero problem with these tires in 3-4 inches of snow already. This is the second year of having them and I still have atleast 50% tread left. I also wanted 245 so I could rotate them to make them last. I didn't want to run the alloys in the winter either but the rims got messed up during the first install so now they are my winter rims.

Not sure how or when the 7.5" wheel came into play. I never said anything about that. My response was to shed a little more light on the tire size in the wheel well of my car right now. Notice how I didn't say anything about a spacer? Just throwing some info out on something that was stated as "seems possible". I'm not 100% on the offset of the stock front 18x8" wheels but with the 245 Blizzaks on them there is still a bit of clearance before anything rubs. I say Blizzaks because they seem to have more tread height and girth to them than I've seen on my summer tires. So a summer tire might give even more clearance. Just trying to offer any help i can. Sorry for disturbing the thread.

Did a 135i even come with stock 8" wheels in the front? Last edited by bigjweb; 03-27-2013 at 01:56 PM.. |

That was a rhetorical question. The 135i never came with 8" wheels in the front
Your wheels appear to be the 182's. Which would make them a 7.5" in the front. If you're running Blizzacks that are 245's, you must be running a 245/45/18 in order to fit the 7.5" wheels. Last edited by bigjweb; 03-27-2013 at 09:10 PM.. |

this is a tape measure across my front wheel. from the inside curve to the outside. correct like i said 245 in the front. when i switch my rims to the summer ones i'll take my 18x8.5 rear and put it on the front and see what happens. as long as there is clearance to the suspension. i think there will be enough room. i think the offset might even keep it in the same place as it is now. i guess i'll find out when i switch the rims.

Both the 264 and 261M style wheels are 18x7.5 ET 48 front and 18x8.5 ET52 rear. To answer OP, yes, you can absolutely run the rear wheels up front. It may be a bit close in strut clearance, but nothing a 3mm spacer wont fix (and you wont even need extended lugs for a 3mm spacer!). You could even run up to a 10mm spacer and go for a more flush fitment, but you may sacrifice potential tire width or need to roll fenders or add some camber. 18x8.5 square would be a nice setup for track! |

Now I have to crawl under there and see what's stamped. Obviously it's not measured like that. According to that its 9 wide. Figured it would give a good reference. When I get home gonna get under there and see what the stamp says. Still gonna put my rears on the front when I swap out to see.

7 1/2Jx18 is what is stamped. 245 40 18 fit very well on them. I've always been told that the fronts are 18x8 and rear is 18x8.5. I guess that what I get from listening to the dealerships. Kinda sucks because I wanted to stick with stock width and went with a 18x8 35 offset to bring the front out a little. Glad the new wheels still ended up fitting. Learn something everyday I guess.
