135is Dinan Stage 3 Dynapack
hey guys, Today I just did the dyno on a dynapack. There is the only one dyno around my area so I have no choice. I was not impressed for the numbers I got. It was around 65 F degrees this morning in upstate NY.
My car has Dinan Stage 3, Wagner Evo 1 competition, ER sport oil cooler, ER chargepipe, PE, and ppk2 with DCT. We did 3 pulls. The best numbers are 312 rwhp & 370 rwtq. |

Don't worry about the numbers they don't really matter. I did a dyno day on a mustang dyno and two FBO JB4 335s couldn't break 330whp. I only made 451whp with upgraded turbos.

As others have said, I wouldn't worry about the numbers. What is most important is that the car feels good to you and the logs look good. I am sure the drivability of the tune is awesome and it is smooth on the street. Were you able to log the dyno pulls? |

He sent me only the best run. One of my friends said my dyno curve for my car looked really weird. Anybody please chime in and tell me. Did my dyno look okay? |

It looks different than other dyno graphs people have posted for N55s I'm no expert so hopfully someone else will chime in. But the peaks in dips in both curves especially the Torque, seem more dramatic than others.

Yes, Dinan tunes are expensive and their numbers are conservative, but I think people who choose them, like me, think they're safe for their car and easy to use. No codes are thrown or adjustments to make. Plug and play. Plus many BMW dealers are Dinan authorized dealers and this shows a long standing relationship between BMW and Dinan and that inspires peace of mind and confidence in Dinan's reputation for those of us that care. I plan on keeping my car for a long time and want it in good running condition for the duration and trust that it will be with a Dinan tune. If you look at the video I posted above you'll notice a pretty good discrepancy between Dynapack and Dynojet with Dynapack underrating the numbers. Don't know if that's typical but I'll assume it is. Dinan quotes my tune at 355hp and 401lb-ft of torque on an otherwise stock N55 engine. Not sure what I'm getting at the wheels but my buttdyno says my tune feels pretty good so I'm happy.

I, too, am quite comfortable with the Dinan Stage 3 tune. I will likely never put it on the dyno but i enjoy every bit of the performance i get with it and believe it to be better than the stock 135. Is it expensive, yes. But it works for me for a lot of the reasons Esteban delineated.

What gear did they record the pulls in? Or did you do it in automatic?
You should be doing the pull in whatever gear in the transmission is 1:1 If that's not consistent shit will be all over the place. |

I would definitely find a dynojet or similar type dyno to run it on, if you'd like something you can compare to numbers other people have gotten, as those are much more common. Like others have said though, the track performance is what matters? Are you near a drag strip? If so, take it to a street night and run it. Your 1/4 mile trap speed (MPH) will tell you pretty dang close how much power you're putting down, even with wheel spin and lack of experience. |
