Ooh, I feel your pain, bro. I've had my car for five years and it is my most prized possession and I know how I'd feel if it happened to me (devastated), but time will pass and your car will be repaired and the pain will go away.

I know your car is not stock and it will take some time and maybe a little more money to replace the non-stock parts that were damaged, but it will be made whole again.

FBO Space Grey 135i M Sport, Comfort Access, Harman Kardon, shadowline twim. I bought the car with the satisfaction that it had been meticulously cared for by a true enthusiast, @spoolin. He made the car into a true FBO monster; fully loaded and pushing 450whp.

Mod List

Spec 3+ with steel single mass flywheel
JB4 w/ NLTS and 2-step relay
BMS Meth Kit with 2.3 gallon baffled tank
ER Charge Pipe with meth bung and Tial Q bov
BMS Dual Cone Intake
VRSF 3” Downpipes
CPe Cat-Back Exhaust

Paint matched BMW performance spoiler
Gauge cluster with white LED and 1M style overlay
H&R Super Sport Springs
Forgestar F14 19” rims
Cobywheel wrapped Alcantara wheel with M stitching
BMW performance shift knob and boot
Replica 1M front bumper (painted space grey)
Rieger Rear Diffuser
LUX v3 Angel Eyes
BMW All Weather floor Mats

About halfway on my journey home I come up very quickly on a very large white tailed deer laying in the middle of the two lane interstate. There just wasn't enough time to avoid it. The only downfall to this car is that the low beams have very low visibility range. So then I pulled over to the nearest exit to inspect it. Essentially I had ramped a doe at 90 miles per hour which severed my 1M replica bumper, cracked the rieger rear diffusor and destroyed the undercarriage plastic and found the TPMS sensor hanging by a few wires.

I made it home after several stops on the way to check the underside. There were a couple instances where loose pieces of plastic were rubbing which I had to cut off. The performance of the car did not seem to be hindered for the duration of the trip. However, when I finally got home I tried restarting the car a few times which threw a check engine light. I data logged some idle time and a couple revs which showed 0 boost pressure. I ran the code to say 29e0 fuel mixture. The original owner advised that the intercooler pipping could have come loose since it was directly behind the bumper but I can't be sure until a shop can inspect it. I am waiting for the insurance adjuster to come out before I take it in.
I'm also really worried that the insurance company won't be able to replace all of the aftermarket parts. I will be extremely disappointed if I am given a factory front bumper
This long awaited weekend turned into a terrible nightmare. I will update the thread as I go through the process.

This is the saddest thing i've heard in a long time...

Very sad, but hitting a deer at 90 you are lucky that is all that happened. Car can be fixed a lot easier then body parts!

Wow that sucks. Sorry to hear all that.

Maybe next time if you're going 90mph at night have your high beams on. Or don't go 90. You might have been able to avoid the deer.

Garage List
2009 135i  [8.00]
My low beams used to point very low. I didn't feel safe driving even 55 mph through the PA mountains for this exact reason. So I adjusted them up. The dealer said they couldn't adjust it up any more. I backed into my garage and turned the lights on so I could see the line on my garage door. I turned the adjusting screw and adjusted them up about an inch. Now theyre perfect. Might be a little to high for other drivers when going over hills but it works for me and Atleast I can see dead animals and potholes at night.

What a mess! Usually insurance won't cover any modifications, good luck!

Just tell the shop to order the parts you want. The insurance will only pay for the original parts but you don't have to use the money for those exact parts. You can order what you want to with the money.

The car looks quite fixable. Yes, it's a shame but better than being T-boned and totaled, six months from now it'll be a bad memory.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Does anyone have any idea how long the repairs will take (including insurance adjuster, body shop inspection, ordering parts, paint, etc)? I know it might be hard to tell specifically but should I count my summer out?

Maybe a month total start to finish. That would be a long repair process

Congrats on your new ride but sorry to hear what happened. At least you're safe. Hopefully she'll be as good as new once repaired. Good luck!

Sorry to hear this OP!

I bet under a month if you can get parts quickly. My winter vehicle was hit in a parking lot, while parked in December ($2400 in front end damage) total time took around a month and it was peak repair season due to two massive snowfalls. They had to order more parts after discovering hidden damage as well (rad, water pump, headlight, etc) The total time in the shop was under a week, including respray of a new bumper, took 3 weeks to get it in.

You don't have any frame damage, not sure I've even seen sheet metal. Three weeks tops... *if* you have a good shop and your insurance adjuster isn't a jerk (some are, some are not).

This.

I wasn't happy at all with the short illumination distance with the headlights set at factory specs. I had my dealer adjust them so I wasn't feeling like I was looking down on the light beam being 6'5". The first attempt the dealer adjusted them way too high. So high that the visibility at a distance was great but I had everyone flashing their high beams at me and a few people giving me the middle finger....and this was with just low beams. I went back to the dealer and they readjusted the headlights again. But the mechanic ended up putting the headlights back to factory specs. So again I went back to the dealership and this time my service adviser did the adjustment. He also test drove the car and I can say he was spot on. Been happy with the headlights ever since.

You should tell the insurance company it ran out in front of you rather than saying it was laying in the road, it might make a difference !
