Has anyone tried this PDC retrofit solution from BMW?

I recon it works for the 1-series. Reviews are mixed, seems it is good for objects directly behind you but doesn't capture objects on the side.

On the plus side, it seems it is a fairly cheap and DIY job with no dealer coding required.

Part number is 66210395009

Here is the link to Circle BMW's offering, next to last item.

I'd love to do this too. I have it on my other car and it makes parallel parking much easier for those who suck at it (raises hand).

Yeah, I have another driver that is not as attentive as me , so would come in very handy. Also, I don't have the Premium package, and as such my passenger side mirror doesn't tilt when in Reverse, so always worried about curb rash.

In your experience, does it help when parking against a curb? Some folks have said that it works well for objects that are directly behind you, but not on the side.

yeah, i wish they had it for the side of the car, my problem when i parallel park is that i am always too FAR away from the curb. i am really paranoid about curb rash....

PDC doesn't help against the curb, but the passenger window tilt does. My biggest problem when parallel parking is not knowing exactly how close I can get to the car behind me in tight spots.

I spoke to Circle BMW, they weren't 100% sure if it will fit the 1-series. Seems generic, but they are not sure if the wiring is the same... Technically there is not a kit for the 1-series, so someone has to try it out first...
