OK, I have searched and searched. Can not search words with only three letters, OR, I just suck at it.

This is simply unplug vacuum line from muffler and cram a golf tee in it?

Drone?

It doesn't drone at all. Apparently you've never had an aftermarket exhaust to know what drone is.

Exhaust really is only loud on cold starts. I have a valve rattle now, but besides that it is perfectly fine.

I know about the link but, I guess, it is just my anal mindset that tells me if BMW set it up, with the vacuum tube, that is the best way to run the car. So I wanted to ask, once again, if anyone has encountered anything negative with this mod.

I would be…..shocked if any issues arose from this “mod”. All you’re doing is unplugging a vacuum actuator that allows the stock exhaust to be a bit louder- keep in mind the flap opens by design. So you’re not really altering anything, just changing it to “open” all the time. It’s a matter of preference, but really really really don’t worry about breaking anything OP. This is as simple as it gets. Plug it with a golf tee, tuck it behind the fire walling, done deal.

Drone haha, Its slightly louder with the valve open. The valve is supposed to open after 3,000 Rpms or higher anyway, so all you are doing is having the valve open at lower revs. Shouldn't cause any issues, you might start hearing the flap rattle though. Try it out and if you don't like it put it back.

Just made the mod, with a tie, and will see how it works.

sorry i guess i misused the word drone. I mean its definately noticeable on the highway. You can definately hear the exhaust when its open versus when its not. Ive switched back and forth a few times during dealer visits and its noticeable.

I have read several comments on going the unplug way. Some problems encountered were when you plugged the open tube with a Tee or something else. The tie closes it completely and is easily cut if I want to open the line.

No teemod!!!

Just use zip tie. It's reversible if you decide you don't like it or want to trade it in and it does the same thing.

What I did as well, sound is slightly louder, but not a big deal, IMO. Easy to reverse if you don't like it. I notice no difference on the hiway.

Yes it is slightly louder which is what I like. I do mostly highway driving but when I am in a neighborhood I like the variety of sounds it makes.
