Cheaper Alternative to $5000 BMW Performance Seats

Honestly even if this is feasible this isn't something I'd do for a few years but a guy can daydream or kill time right? So we've all seen the beautiful but highly overpriced BMW Performance Seats. They're basically Recaro Sportser's with a) special BMW Performance stiching b) covered in alcantera c) heating elements and d) side airbags.

Installing any lightweight race seat comes at the expense of giving up creature comforts. But I think you maybe able to retofit the oem heating elements which is a big feature for those who track our daily drivers. I did a little digging around and found part numbers 52106988983 (bottom) and 64117140545 (backrest). Both these parts cost $150 total.



Has anyone tried retrofitting this into a bucket seat? Throw in a slider and you pretty much have the same thing as the BMW Performance seat sans side airbag. Yes side airbags are not something to skimp over but there's no car with aftermarket seats that has this option so it's sorta moot.

Sportsters can be had for about $1300
Mounting hardware & sliders $300
Heating elements $150
Total cost $1750 vs BMW Performance Seats $2500

I guess end of day it's still pricey and for $750 more you get plug and play w/ side airbags but thought this was worth posting.
