1 Series Wanted
My brother is looking to buy a lower range 1 Series (120i, 118i, 120d, etc) and wants to pay somewhere in the $25K range. I think he's looking for the hatch. What year and model should he be aiming for?

130i - 2005/2006 model with ~100k kms can be had for $25k. If he's patient enough he can score a ~70k kms example for that price.
118i/120i - 2008/2009 (LCI) depending on options is also in this price bracket Not too sure about prices for 120d's personally. |

Cheapest 130i on CarSales.com is $29,500 http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=12896DCB300B
Plenty of 120i for around the $25k mark though... |

I should probably clarify that I confined my search to the Brisbane area....

Yeah I noticed the search was limited to QLD... I guess when it comes to crunch time, inspecting interstate vehicles can be left as the last resort. For me though, I naturally use the nation-wide search to give me a price point to work with (if I have to negotiate a little harder for a local car, for eg).

After some research I believe this is the best one on the market so far....
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=132A5CA31703 120i Only done 27,000k in manual and price is negotiable. Yes colour is debatable and is rather old, however you can bling it up by retrofitting a M-Sport kit which would look rather good with that red. |

This one apparently doesn't have spare keys nor a log book. The km's look dodgy to me too considering the seats seem roughly used. Should be able to obtain for close to 25k...? I'd give them a call just to find out their rough asking price. |

If he's really sold on an E87 then I'd suggest a 130i if he's wanting something he could track and have some good fun in. Otherwise take your pick I guess.
Mind you if you're shopping for a $25k-$30k car then there's a plethora of options out there. Mark V Golf GTi springs to mind. Craig you've got my email, drop me a line if you want me to give you the details of a vehicle broker here in town who could have a stab at tracking something down for your brother. |

After owning a 120 and a 130, I would have to say for a hatch the 130 is the way to go.
It's a totally different beast.
