How about a nice car model (1:18 scale) for $120 and a romantic dinner? http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ght=toy+models Dackel PS: Sounds like he already has a juice-box JB3 (piggy tune) that makes more Hp for the engine. |

what an awesome gf I can only wish mine does that, she already thinks I spend too much money on the car as it is
Best bet would be to somehow get a list of his current mods but as others have said for go fast bits definitely meths or DP. Maybe you can get some shock + spring combo if he doesn't already have aftermarket suspension. Koni FSD + Eibach spring should just be under $1000. Another would be one of those vent gauge thingy! http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...RHD+vent+gauge |

I'm a handling over power kinda guy, but I think that suspension (shocks + springs) is something I'd want to buy rather than be given. The M3 arms are a good idea though - I'd be well pleased with those.
Downpipes get my vote. |

No.
Also, axle-back exhausts for this car don't do much in the way of performance at all (which is the part a lot of people put on which makes their car sound loud). The hardest thing for you here Aimee is if you ask 50 people you'll likely get 50 answers and still not be sure which way to go. Depending on how long your boy intends to keep his car you might want to make your choice based on whether he'll want to convert it back to "stock", or standard setup. If it's a long-term project for him, anything goes really. If he's likely to turn it over in a few years you'd want something you can bolt on and bolt off again easily. The reason I mentioned suspension is that it's a good stealth mod that in most cases is a great improvement. Someone mentioned they'd want to choose their suspension themselves, but it's pretty hard to go wrong with the M3 control arms. Choosing springs/ shocks is a different issue altogether. Quote:

It's much easier to make our cars go faster than to make then corner harder.

I was just thinking though... if my wife bought me anything for the car I'd be pretty happy and surprised! Even if it were control arms. But the difference they would make to the car would be far less than downpipes/meth. A set of coilovers would be awesome, but like Jeef said, too expensive. |

Coilovers would be a totally awesome present but yes quite an investment. Maybe some carbon fibre bits if he's into cosmetic changes? Following on from sparoz, instead of making him perform better in bed or last longer, that'd be making him...bigger

Oi, this is a lot more work than I thought! Can't ask his mates as they don't know jack about cars. If they suddenly show interest he will know I'm up to something.
So with the downpipes are they easily removable? I like that they give a bit more power. Thanks again for all your help guys. Can't wait to pull this off! |

Are you sure he doesn't already have a downpipe? Any idea if he is on another BMW forum? Given he has Juice Box perhaps he is on N54 tech or whatever that forum is called?

Yeh like WAY said, you should try find out if he already has downpipes installed. If he doesn't, order them and give Advan performance a call and they'll let you know how much it costs.
Get the install organised too and get double kudos for something that takes an extra 5mins!
