I think they need to try again. My 6 year old SUV, Suzuki, got hit in a parking lot earlier this year. It has red metallic paint. I took it to an independant and had them fix other issues that had accumulated over the years. So they were spot painting 3 areas. You can't find any of them. I haven't waxed it since and I won't be surprised if I can find a line in the clearcoat somewhere (likely overspray pattern) but the color match is correct.

Matching old paint is harder than matching new paint because it is faded. I hope you didn't get the best painter they have or he had an unusually bad day. This sort of thing is why I worry about body work from a dealer. I think some independants are better at this than some dealers. Good luck.

Jim

Update. The body shop finally finished the job and I picked up car. Looks good not perfect but good. Went to open door with CA no deal. Had to take it to BMW service. They found a blown fuse, but also after working on the door the tech notice a weird feel to door latch movement. He took door apart and the body shop had routed the locking cable the wrong way and crimped it. Service had to order all new parts for inside door from lock to handle. Of course back order. Going on six weeks now for a busted door handle. Service called yesterday and said parts are in for inside door and will put together Monday but there is a piece of trim that has a broken clip and it is still not in. They wanted to know if I would accept car with understanding I will need to bring back for a 10 minute repair once trim comes in. I said "yes". I might get my car back..........

She is home. I picked her up and so thrilled. Still a few small issues that will be taken care of Tuesday but I am just being an a$$ now. After what they put me through I think I am allowed to be. I will post pics later.
