Rear 255/35 or 255/40

I've ran 255/35 but I was wondering would 255/40 fit? I don't understand too much about the 35/40 number but the fronts are 40.

Any help is appreciated!

You want to keep the SAME diameter tires as stock.(or as close to it!).

I went with this 225/255 combo... and I am very happy with them.

225/40ZR18 94Y
255/35ZR18 92Y

The tire profile number is the height of the tread as a % of the tire width.

255/40/18 will be too tall. It should be 255/35/18 to stay close to the stock diameter.

This. Even the 255/35 is taller than stock already. Don't go 40 series.

I think you inverted the numbers... According to your pictures it should be

225/40ZR18 front
255/35ZR18 rear

Yes, I did do that! Thanks for correcting me!

The correct tire sizes should read...

225/40ZR18 94Y
255/35ZR18 92Y

Thanks guys! Exactly what I was looking for.

I had the 255/35 before but wanted to ask since 255/40 was available and not the 255/35

Do 255/35/18 fit on the stock rear 18" wheels? Do they look odd?

Sorry I'm not a huge suspension/tire guy. I need new rear tires and going a bit wider would be nice.

They look fine. They are wider than 245's though.

Here are my 255's on stock wheels(8.5j rears)...

Technically a 255 tire needs a 9 inch wide wheel... but they fit fine on the stock 8.5j OE wheels. Heck ,even BMW now puts 225/255 wheels on the same stock wheels on some of the F3x cars. It really is fine.

I have the same size tires and wheels as Dack and they fit fine. A lot of people here have those sizes and are perfectly happy with them.
