Aviano Air base Italy, I work on the far left side of the runway, on the near side, biggest white building. Yes, that is the coastline in the back ground. |

You are running 470 some HP on your front wheels? Better have rock solid insurance while driving thru Swiss alpines.

This car handles better than my 135i lol.... Front wheel drive is so much more controllable than rwd in twisters (as far as this car goes anyways). I dont overstear at all and I hardly ever understear, it drives where I point it. Its a total package concept... I admit the ride comfort from the suspension is rough for most DD, but I dig it for what it gives me on the mnt roads, supreme confidence.

Oversteer in a FWD can be achieved with a lift of throttle, not putting down during cornering. It is not my point thou.
My point was; after an apex, unless you have super godly sticky front tires, some steering input and full throttle from 470 HP will make you understeer. It is because of physics. Weight transfer to the back, ligther front, lots of HP and some steering input = traction loss ...But on the other hand, If you are not full throttle accelerating after apex, it means you are not really cornering as fast as you can. Do you see where I'm getting at ?

I have been driving this car for over 5 years like this, I know how to drive it, evident that not once have I been in a wreck either on the track or off in the hills.
I get your points, but whats the point of telling me... I know this. My response was that my car handles better than my 135, not that I didnt know how to drive it. Your first comment insinuating that I didn't know how to drive a car ive been driving for over 5 years, and I was going to put it into a wall or off of a cliff is what started all this. There's always got to be that one guy who tries to rain on your parade.
Nice Car, you got a lot time and effort put into that thing (money goes without saying). My other car is a 2007 Cobalt SS/SC. Not that its putting out numbers anywhere close to yours but I can appreciate the car due to the SRT-4 -Cobalt rivalry. If thats what you did to a SRT-4 what do you have planed for the 1er? All that work done and your only going to give up one shot of the engine bay? |

LOL, there's really nothing to see on the outside of the bay... All the tough works internal. I have an intake, hard pipes, and fuel pressure regulator/lines, and the adj cam gears to look at. Some other small things, but not really purty, I went with function over form.
The 1er, well, we will just have to wait and see what comes out for the car first off. But I have laid out a plan for the next three years depending on if I am still in Italy or get back to the states. The motor will be a big factor, in how much I can press the stock long block before I need to dip inside and take a peak. |

No offense, but with nearly 500 hp on the front wheels I find that hard to believe. I've been in a 275 hp gti that torque steered like a mofo, same with a 300 hp cobalt ss

Its called - proper modifications... These SRT-4s are not known to torque steer much from stock anyways with the ACR package. Just because another car does, doesn't mean they all do... Believe it or not. |

was hoping to see a video of your car tearing it up down that amazing road on the gps. what was the point to tease us with that and then not deliver. whatever. very disappointing...

Pixleblue, if u saw the potholes u would understand lol. It's the back road to a ski resort, not well kept.
And that was my dd for the last 5 years, not just my toy lol. Apreciate the complents though, and I'll see about getting good road bids soon. |

pff I am not trying to rain on his parade. we are just exchanging ideas.
The reason I responded was because of your sentence where you mentioned "I dont overstear at all and I hardly ever understear" I didn't claim your car handles worse than 1er. I'd expect that since it is modified versus a stock-ish 135.. But there is no way your car doesn't oversteer or understeer with those skinny looking tires...Your contact patch looks like slim and with almost 500 HP on front wheels your car can EASILY understeer. You can't make me believe otherwise. You are either not going fast enough, or standing still. Every car follows basic physics tire adhesion etc. Peace.
