as soon as the ordering guide is out, you should be able to order one. This usually coincides with the price release as well. You can always pre-order the car if you feat that it will be in high demand, but you won't be able to get a delivery date until the order is put in.

it's ok, the BMW page offers some basic information, just to get you started, and that was the reason why I started my website. People were reading the ED section on the BMWNA website and then they still had tons of questions

I thought I'd try to offer some useful information for my 1st post...

There is an entire forum at one of the other BMW sites, dedicated to Euro Delivery:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25

You can read my recent adventure here:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...reat+adventure

Just as I returned from the ED, I found BMW's announcements regarding the 135, for spring 2008. Had I known, I'd probably have waited and not gotten the 335. Not that I'm complaining...

European Delivery in itself is worth it, no doubt in my mind. But you can also combine it with various other events (soccer championships, LeMans races, what have you).

For my next ED, 135 in 2009, I was thinking of joining the BMW driving school at the Nurburgring. It's a 3 day affair, you supply your own car, and costs roughly $1500. That may seem like a lot initially, but you have 10 hours + per day on the Ring, with instructors, all entrance fees paid (this probably accounts for the majority of the fee, as each lap costs 19 Euro).

Anyway, if you guys have any specific questions they have probably already been answered at the "other" forum, and I'll be happy to answer as well.

Edit: Hi Irv! Good to see you over here...

Hummm, A group 1 series 2008 Euro trip...?

All I know is when I asked BMWNA about it they mentioned that the car I'd be picking up has to be available in the US first...

123d123d123d123d123d123d123d123d123d123d123d123d

Can you tell which one I'm kinda interested in?

adc,
That was a truly great ED write-up with beautiful photogtaphy. Thanks for taking the time to share it. My wife and I have been to Italy several times and just returned from a trip to Cote 'd Azur & Provence in April, so many of those photos struck home.

Oh, and welcome to 1addicts! I look forward to your posts.

Thank you! I'm looking forward to participating on this forum, too.

The trip was incredible, better than I expected (despite the months of planning) and I am already looking forward to the next one. That's the biggest trouble with Euro Delivery, as soon as you complete one you will be hooked for life.

I didn't submit it. I thought that compared to some of the other entries, this one was lacking (especially in the writing department).

But don't worry, I think I'm getting the hang of it and will make a better effort with the next one.

Wow, thanks for all the information and new things to consider. This may be a good way for the fiancee and I to see Europe (what she wants to do) and get myself a new car (what I want to do). I will definitely look into this as we get closer to the cars time of release.

ok, the contest will be held every month,so I'm hoping to get as many stories as possible, so when someone wants to read about European Delivery, I can just point them out to my blog

I am no ED expert, but my understanding is that you must pick the car up at the factory in Germany. Now, there is no requirement on the length of your journey. I believe one article mentioned how you could fly in, pick the car up, drive around for a little bit, and fly right back. But, it must be you that picks the car up.

1. you have to go to pick up your car, even if you stay there for 3-4 hrs, you still need to pick it up and drop it off yourself

2. I'm not sure about other dealers, but ours has no problem with cars having over 50k miles

Has BMW historically offered ED right away after a new model is introduced?

It seems like a good way to get around paying MSRP for a popular new model...

you should, it's always better to have the option on choosing the date you want, so starting early it's a great thing

There is no way of getting a european model for this though... like the 5-door 1er? Ugh... I hope BMW starts offering that over here.

Unfortunately, you can only do an European delivery on the cars that are available for the US market.
