German government wants to give up contracts with Nurburgring
http://translate.google.com/translat...%2C377053.html
And finally............... the bomb has exploded. Hopefully this will not affect the open track days (touristenfahrens) already scheduled for the year and hopefully the right people are selected this time to run the fabled race track. The Rhineland Pfalz government has decided to call it a day with the current NAG, who control the operations of the "ring and the Nordschleife. If I hear more, I will post here but a news conference is scheduled today at 13:30.

This was not unexpected. The 'Ring has been losing a huge amount of money over the last few years due to completely unrealistic planning figures and the hopes that people would come to an ugly bunker like the "ringwerk" from far away.
Now the local government tries to get rid of the leaseholder (which is a company owned by Richter and Lindner) and put its own company as a leaseholder instead (subsidized by taxpayers' money, which will not sit well with quite a few people) to try and clean up the mess that the private companies created. This will not impact the Nordschleife IMO which is more or less nicely booked out by the industry pool (aka prototype testing) between March and October as well as for track events and races. However, this will certainly have an impact on the surrounding "ringwerk" and other stuff that they built in the last few years, as well as possibly the Grand Prix circuit. Alpina_B3_Lux
