Final Inspection has (not really) closed
Brace yourselves Melburnians for this bad bit of news. Final Inspection is closed for business. It is under new management. I went there yesterday only to find Damien giving final instructions to the new owners. He says he is not practicing his art anywhere else at the moment.
Go ahead. Cry. So the new owners are Indians from the "Curry Club" that manages the Magic Car Wash franchises around town. OK, since I am Indian-Australian myself, I can say this without sounding like a bigot - they did a job that looked like a monkey's ass. They rubbed the car with rotten Tandoori Chicken or something because it smelled like Bombay's slum section when they were done! The Magic Car Wash near Forest Hill (also run by the "Curry Club") is way better. |

*drool* I love a good curry.....Some of my fondest memories of working in the UK were the Indian takeaways...however I only ONCE ever ordered the beef vindaloo :eyebulge:Never made that mistake again!!
Seriously though....I wonder whether this is a sign of the times. Perhaps the demand for premium detailing has dropped off simply because their customers now have more pressing financial commitments. Nontheless, there must be a lot of very highly geared businesses (and homeowners) out there who are doing it tough as a result of the movements of the last few weeks.

I found this out 2 weeks ago. My understanding is that Damian is still doing mobile details and selling products. He is looking for ne premises however, will not be doing car washes. I believe he can still be contacted through the same number.
Details are on this site: http://www.finalinspection.com.au/fo...ead.php?t=4468 |

joe i think that he had a small set of devoted fans who knew how good he was. but it seems he will return soon so sydney is on par with melbourne only briefly. LOL! its nice for us to experience what you lot must feel like so that we appreciate what we have!
oh and yeah, when i make my andhra prawn curry, i'd gladly rub habaneros and salt on open wounds instead anyday - that thing will grow a moustache on baby's upper lip in a second!! |

Damian was offered an amount he couldn't refuse so he sold it. He is contactible in the usual fashion and will come and detail your car (or even at Andrew's he said lol) if you want. He is going to Malaysia and Singapore to do a few jobs and also middle east. Sadly his art is not well appreciated here as it is overseas, and we may end up losing him to somewhere else! As others have said, he does want to open a new high end detail place here and I will still be using him. One of the last things he did before the new owners move in was to detail my BBS rims. Did it for me for free too! He said I have been a good customer, but reality is that his past service has provided me with more than what I ever paid to him in monetary terms.

I hope Damian is back sooner rather than later. The Toorak place he was looking at did not go through apparently. The upside is that he might find a better location than Brunswick Road.
What is the world coming to?! I think I will give in, break out my traditional Indian clothes, buy a Jag in the new year, get the Curry Club to clean it and go sing and dance with my wife in the lavender fields of Tasmania. tsk, tsk, tsk..... |

He is doing the mobile details, and will be opening an new high end boutique up in 2009. God I hope he brings washes back, a high end wash would be worth it. None of this $25 crap.

Been good prof, just busy travelling all over oz working!
$55? What the hell? The "full" exterior with a wax and tyre dressing was $25. $35 for a full interior! d. is a fantastic bloke, says a lot about his customer service that car forums around the country are bemoaning the loss of a car wash!

you are more right than you know wayne.
(as evidence, i am not sold on the GT-R because its too cheap so i feel something must be wrong!! ostensibly its gearbox has been failing because of repeated launches. if they take that feature off as they are planning to do, it will no longer manage the 0-62 time it has been doing so far.) |
