Yes, a piggyback has access to different modules compared to what the flash can access. "The BMS JB4 back end flash transfers fuel control from the JB4 to the DME and adds VANOS tuning, higher than OEM ignition advance, and a host of additional flash map changes"

In other words, BMS uses a different set of variables to modulate power output in comparison to Cobb. I don't remember offhand how they work. The answer should be in this thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=447410
I wasn't able to find it though. Shame Bryce isn't around anymore, I would have suggested you ask this on that/his thread.

Thanks Venom. If I have pretty much full bolt ons (downpipe, exhaust, intake, etc) do you think I'd seen an improvement in going to the JB4 Stage 2 along with the AccessPORT?

The rule of thumb I have read is that if you are pushing near 450whp then yes, if not, then you wont see much if any gain.

Tricki - what was the build date of your car? Let us know how it goes when you try the install.

How long did it take for you to install DP on the N55? If it doesn't take too much time out of a day I may just suck it up and switch back to stock for emissions 1x a year.

Not to thread jack with my above statement, but I ordered my Cobb AP a few days ago. Can't wait to install that bishhhhhh

Sequence - I bought the car with the downpipe already installed. I know a shop in Cali did it but I'm not sure how long it would take to remove/replace.

Should be about 1-2 hrs depending on how good you are with mechanical stuff/if you have access to a lift or not

You need to uninstall. Sounds like your firmware was updated and the one you received isn't supported. What you now need to do is be patient and "I just tried to install my AccessPORT and it is telling me that my vehicle is an "Unsupported ROM Version" and won't let me install, what should I do?
You have encountered an ECU that we have not yet added support for. However, the AccessPORT is able to download your vehicle's ROM which you can email to us and we can then add support. To download your ROM, follow the instructions found here: http://cobbtuning.com/info/?id=5848. Next use AccesPORT Manager to save this file to your computer. Then email the file to rom@cobbtuning.com along with your Name, Email address, Vehicle Year Make and Model and transmission type. Once we have the ROM adding support should only take a few days and we will email you with instructions for adding support to your AccessPORT."

I am assuming that your car has been updated by the dealership via a F/W update.

My mistake . I update the firmware of the accesport not the car. And now I search on the maps files and the maps are locked, only 2 sport and aggressive and the stock and valet are not even on the port

Don't brick your cars, people! Check and double check! And then check again.

Sorry I missed this thread guys. There is an issue with older roms, however we have released firmware that will allow you to safely uninstall, then go to the dealer to get your DME updated to a newer rom. This is only a possible issue with 9780B roms. We've seen zero issues in the field, but we wanted to be safe for everyone's sake. We sent emails to anyone we had on file with a bad rom and thiere were very few people since this is a very early revision from BMW.

When I released the firmware today, I also added support for everyone that was waiting with a good rom.

The firmware with the changes for the bad rom will be v1.6.7.0-5426 or above. Please let me know if anyone has any concerns or questions.

Have you sent us a rom? Are you just asking for support since you're a 2012?

If you're just looking to see if you're supported due to your model year, send me a PM or email with the last 7 of you vin and I'll see where we're at.
