BMW 2010 123d EDC17 now tuned
We were able to help out a fellow 1 series owner that wanted his new 2010 123d tuned. It was proving hard for him as his car has the new EDC17 ECU’s that are coming locked from factory. (In case you are unaware, this is similar to when you guys go to get your 135i’s reprogrammed to get the latest software, and then you can no longer install your flash that you had previously as you now have the locked ECU). Anyway the customer had 2 local ECU ‘tuning’ companies that simply install overseas locked tunes into the car attempt to program his car and did reads but were unsuccessful in tuning it over the OBD2 port or getting around the EDC17 ECU in NSW. I spoke to the technicians at Powerchip who already had a solution ready to go for to this a while back and were able to get the customer to a dyno shop the next day to get the tune file done. The results were very good and the car feels very strong now. We upgraded the car by flashing it on the bench, and the dyno tests were all conducted on the same car, same day without the car even being unstrapped from the dyno.

Any torque figures? That's where the diesels really benefit from a tune.
HP went from 162.3 > 199.5 with the tune, if you cannot watch the video. Nice work! |

Very cool. I have a 2009 123d coupé. Will be tempted to get the same car in Australia next year...

That's nearly 25% increase in power. I would assume there would be a 25% increase in torque? Do you have a bigger pic of the graph? Too small can't see numbers at the bottom.

Not to bash anyone up.... but....
When I met our German guys(freinds) on this forum over at that BMW Wuerzburg car show two months ago.... they both had chipped 120d's. An e82 and an e87 hatch. They said with a simply 400 euro chip they were getting 210 PS. I think a chipped 123d would make slightly more. ? 220 PS? There was one guy who was thinking of chipping his 120d but he was gonna go with some big named German tuner for 1,200 euros. Same PS/Hp levels. Just some food for thought. |

now its my turn
Iam one of the 120d Owners. We are talking about 210ps NOT on the wheels... My friend has an 120d optimized by the MgmbH (unique! cost about 8000€) and is getting 240 ps and about 600nm torque! with a 123d you should get about 245ps and 480nm... both values also NOT on the wheels... /cheers oli |
