Another LED Halo Thread....HELP!
I know this is a heavily discussed topic, but I have a couple of questions. I know everyone is pretty high on the LUX lights on this forum, and they have obviously gotten a reputation because people have had success with them. But there are DOZENS upon DOZENS of bulbs that seem to be basically identical on the internet and all over ebay that cost substantially less. What is the difference really? Below are a couple of examples that appear to be decent, and I'm wondering what the downside to these would be.
Example #1 Example #2 Thanks for the help! |

i could list about a dozen differences between the e-bay junk ( and their false advertising) and the lights we design and build. I'll let everyone else chime in first since though

The kit in example 1 are junk. We have tested them ourselves while trying to design our own LED kit. They run very hot and are not bright at all. Here is a pic comparing the 120w that you see on ebay to a another kit with 1/3 the wattage ( i wont mention the brand of the other kit so i dont derail the thread).

Guys, I really appreciate the responses. This was the type of info I was looking for. I don't mind spending money to get a quality product, but I also don't want to overspend needlessly. Searching the interwebs, I keep seeing positive reviews for LUX, DTEC, and MTEC. I'm not trying to start a war amongst suppliers here; just want as much information on the table as i can get before I buy a really pricey pair of light bulbs. I am new to the BMW community, but have spent a lot of time in other car communities. From past experience, a single brand or two will be keyed in by the community and other worthy competitors are sometimes ignored due to lack of brand recognition/hype within the forums. On the other hand, sometimes brands are ignored just because they are junk LOL
With the bulbs you guys sell, what actual real world life expectancy do you really see out of them? |

I think a solid option that looks great is white color temperature non-led bulbs + BMWhat app and adapter to code the voltage of the angel rings higher. For about $100 you get seriously bright crisp angel eyes plus you have an app and adapter that can be used for dozens of other things.
I don't understand why people buy anything else |

Look up the thread for piaa bulbs or angel eye bulbs, it's surprising how good they look for a bulb

Can also vouch for just maxing out the factory voltage values and running H8 halogens. The light tubes were designed for halogens and they work much better with them.
My headlights have been like that for over a year, no ill effects yet. Actually just changed the bulbs for PIAAs a week ago. Stock bulbs came out perfectly.

I have the obd2 Bluetooth adaptor and full bmwhat app but never had the courage to set the angel eye voltage higher. I read somewhere that increasing the voltage cause the bulbs to get too hot and cause problems.. But I guess you were running them for over a year with no problem.. So maybe I should give that a try too |
