just bought a new bimmer e90 318d (im in austria) but due to budget constraints, im limited to choosing whether i would be getting xenon lights or leather for my car, i was inclined to get the leather and just buy aftermarket xenon lights do you think its a good idea or ill just buy xenon and stick with the cloth ?., thanks for any inputs guys

i would say stick with the leather you can feel the leather and once u have leather u wont go back surly there is after market lights out there, but bmw put good lights in any way there better than most car out there now, so if u want new light shop around, but leather get nice a warm in the winter, lol

It depends on if you bought your car for the driving experience or to have a near-luxury vehicle. I'm more of a driver myself. My rule of thumb is to first go for options that effect your driving. From the opinions of most on this board, the xenons allow you to drive more safely (maybe more quickly) at night. It is very easy to retrofit aftermarket leather at a later date. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your new car.

The xenon light replacement is (i) expensive; (ii) difficult to make.
Leather is not a driving feature, more of a luxury/comfort (?) feature. BTW leather gets hot in summer and cold in winter-cloth does not. As mentioned, it is not difficult to get aftermaket shops to reskinn the seats with leather. Get the xenons IMHO. |

Another vote for the xenon's.
The leatherette is very convincing anyway, an wears like iron. I'ved had it in two prior BMWs. The e46 leatherette fooled everybody who drove in the car. I can't really comment on cloth, since it's not offered in the US. |

I would recommend the cloth seats; I wish we had a cloth option in the U.S. as the BMW cloth is very comfortable.

thanks for all the info guys it looks like the xenon is my best option, i already place the order and have until monday to change any options., the leatherette offered is not a good option coz you have to take the sports seat which almost cost as like the leather. can i still buy some leather on aftermarket sales?

Excellent choice, I truly like the safety that the Xenons provide. I have leather cause I like the luxury feel. Don't feel bad about the cloth since it's really durable and works great under all temperatures. I had cloth in my previous car and never complained about it. Good luck.
