iDrive update and new AU Maps

My May 08 135i went in for a service yesterday and as a result of a couple of niggling issues (iDrive freeze on startup and the rear view mirror failing to return to it's original position) they have upgraded the software on the car.

I only drove the car for 10 minutes home from the garage, but couldn't see any visible changes in the software. Does anyone know what has changed since the 08 software?

Also - I'm still on my original maps DVD - v14 Purple. Any ideas what the latest version of the maps are?

Cheers
Paul

are BMW still charging ridiculous ($500) for nav upgrade dvd's?

is v16 on the 09 iDrive? Would it be worth me looking for an update for it?

IF you can work out what model the BMW system is you can get it from here:

http://www.whereismaps.com/buy-map-u...y=AU&device=23

Conviniently they do not have the BMW specific link on the website... you have to select the VDO/Dayton and then work out which model NAV your car has....

$249 for v16

There are pirated copies floating out there, quite readily available.

I cannot tell the difference between the maps.

The Perth to Bunbury Highway now seems to exist, but only for half its length - which is weird, because they opened it in its entirety.

An instructed RH turn under the subway in East Perth has now been changed (because it's illegal).

However, other than that - I haven't really noticed any differences.

With regards to the new software, I didn't really notice any differences either, other than "Low, Medium, Intense" as air-con speeds, wasn't it "High" before? Oh, it's stuffed up my km/l though, now averaging 13 instead of 11 or 12

Thanks for the info, Simon. Now I know I won't bother if they only have half the Perth-Bunno Hwy. Maybe when they did the survey the hwy wasn't open yet.

Hey, amk2912, this isn't some Google Streetmaps, remember. You're supposed to be getting reliable mapping data from the guvermint sources, I thought. I mean, why else would you pay that much? I was quite disappointed. Anyway, I will be heading down there for the LW at the end of Feb, will confirm then (I only manually checked before, didn't drive it).

I'll also be heading up to Mindarie tomorrow night where there was another 'clanger' (for me) and will see if that's been fixed. Doubt it.
