edit: I see that you have a 135. That threw me off for a minute since this thread was about 128's and they don't have the same recall.....but glad you got it sorted or are getting it sorted!

The BMW NA rep said that my car has an extended warranty on my hpfp applies 10 years 120k miles. He then told me to contact the local BMW dealer and have them look into this on my car. I am not a person who goes to the dealer but in this case I will but advise them that no work should be performed outside of what the warranty will cover. Really appreciate the advice from the mechanic and if this is the case and fixes my issue I have a bottle of wine with his name on it.

Glad to know you resolved the issue.

With regards to electronics, i have experience that no matter what the manufacture or brand claim how long an item is supposed to last (such as coil, distributor, sensors etc) they could last 100K miles, but you really notice a big improvement by replacing them more frequently.

Some electronics benefit from just cleaning due to oil and junk contamination (such as the vanous sensors) but personally id due a tune up (plugs and coils) no later than 50K or 2 years, then replace all (and i mean all) sensors at 100K including the O2 sensors. You need to also be aware that these electrical component are constantly seeing low and high temperatures (since they are in the engine bay) and getting clean, accurate readings is critical to these engines (or any engine really).

This is just my opinion on how i like to do maintenance and keep on top of things, maybe costly in the short run but can save headaches and time in the long run.

I’m having misfire in cylinder 2. Have had eccentric valves replaced before. 2013 128i with only 36,500 miles.

Bmw already extended the warranty to gold for free. Still, not happy there’s an engine problem, for the third time...

What other problems did the engine have before this?

I had VANOS problems before. The fixed some gasket related to the eccentric valve then they replaced the valve. Both times I had multiple misfirings, but nothing where I noticed it when driving.

This time, the car was stuttering between 1500-2000 RPM occasionally until last night, where it was constant and the service engine soon light came on. When I restarted the car, the light was off and the stuttering was gone, but CARLY told me it was cyl 2.

Car is at the dealer now.
