most interesting for current E90 owners:

Quote:
BMW’s new twin-turbo inline six is making its debut in the new 335i Coupe. One cannot overlook the new 328i Coupe with its normally-aspirated inline six-cylinder engine. This is the latest model to take advantage of BMW’s weight-saving blend of magnesium and aluminum for the crankcase. The cylinder head cover and the bedplate are also made of aluminum. Fully variable Valvetronic valve management, an electric coolant pump and a fully controlled oil pump are features which serve to enhance the 328i Coupe’s efficiency and responsiveness.
That implies that the 328 is the same engine with an in-between intake manifold/software, so the current 325/330 engines probably aren't getting tossed in September.

If the 328 prices between the 325/330, with its in-between horsepower, then the current owners should have nothing to worry about from a resale perspective.

:rocks:

I called BMWNA today and as far as they know there are no changes to the Sedan engines this September. It is highly likely though, that the '07 Model year will be shortened for them and that the new engine configurations for the '08 Model year will begin in early Spring of '07.

That same person would have said they know of no changes to the Coupe engines if you would have called him last week.

328/335 sedans will start production THIS September.

No, he was pretty much certain that the Coupe was getting new engines. I still wish you would post whatever piece of paper you've got.

I guess more importantly, the 330 will still have more HP than the upcoming 328, so current 330 owners aren't SOL

And more torque.
But also, pricing is still up in the air.

Thankfully no secret paper is needed to say what you are though...

Dude, believe what you want, I don't care... but I have been posting on bimmerfest for over 4 years and I'm not just going to start pulling crap out of my a$$...

EDIT: All the naysayers were there too when I created this post last year:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=118567

Again, I'm not taking credit for anything...I'm just saying what I have found out and posted for a long time is turning out to be true.

Very interesting...so a 335 could be about 3-4K more than existing 330 in the US...if so an optioned out version would be about 46-47K...the 06 E46 M3 looks better and better...

You know, I thought of something. I know that BMW does not "compete" with Lexus and Infinity, and all the rest of the snobby jazz, but are the G35 and the IS350 available in England?

If not, then BMW is free to charge more over there. After all, the value of the 325 has been increasing over the years, to the point where it is much greater value for money right now, then it was in say 1998. The main reason for this is probably competition.

And yes, the turbo has been in development for a while, so it's not a RESPONSE to the IS, but companies tend to have a rough idea of what their competitors are upto.

An optioned out 2006 E46 M3 though is 62k-63k. So, we're talking $15,000.00 more for 30 more horsepower and 40 less lbs of torque than the 335i. Why not chip the 335i and save yourself 14-15k, plus have the added perks of having newer technology in a car and new options like Comfort Access or the new integrated Ipod, and you aren't rolling with an antiquated design from 5+ years ago back in 2001.

I love the M3 and specifically the E46 M3, but my plan is to snap up this 335i, keep it 2-3 years, and then buy the E90 M3 in 2008/2009.

C'mon Greg, you and I can do a "group buy" here in AZ for this car!

Keep it posting. Just the mysteriousness about secret papers is irksome. But, a 335i sedan is fine, unless they price it the same as 330i was

Yeah, getting a 335 for a couple years and transitioning to the new M3 was my plan too...but I tell ya I don't really like the looks of the E90...I dislike everything about the front...the rear lights are hideous...overall it looks too big...I hate the Buick dash...I just LOVE how the M3 convertible looks...plus I want that Imola interior!!!

I am waitlisted on the 335 but I am trading emails today about the M conv for close to the 60K range...
