If you own a One, try this
Get into an open parking lot. Turn the wheel all the way to the left and start to turn a perfect circle. You do not need to drive fast just keep the wheel tight left.
This is one of the tightest turning cars I've ever been in. It's like you are driving a fork lift. I was amazed at how tight the car will 360. Try it, you'll be amazed. |

Experienced this tonight. Was turning around in a parking and thought for sure I was going to need to stop and backup, but kept turning, and the 1 made it. It's got a really tight turning radius, for sure!

It's like that with our 330xi. It seems you expect the wheel to stop turning but it turn just a bit more and is a very tight turning car. I'm guessing a 1er will be a tad better with the shorter wheelbase. It's the little things that count and I love it.

I wonder if there are any numbers to that... (google) seems to be 17.5 ft (5.33m), but I got it from this NONSENSE page: http://inventory.lag.ca/english/new-...0BMC401A0.aspx

Short wheelbase plus RWD = good turning radius.
FWD cars a limited by the CV joints up front. I can't park for shit when I'm in rental cars because I'm used to the GTO's turning radius. I'm always misjudging the swing into a spot and have to back up. |

I previously owned a 2000 323Ci and it had a good turning radius also. The 135i turning radius didn't let me down either. I am truly impressed.

I thought it was going to be:
now turn off DTC, hold the wheel, full throttle.

Yes, turning radius is awesome. Found out doing a u-turn. To my surprise, I was in the inside lane. I'd be lucky to make the right lane in my Eclipse.
Ours does not have active steering. The steering ratio sucks bad. I felt like I was in the car wash with Rob & Big. |
