Run in service...

Hello guys, I just want to know if you are doing the first service after 1200miles. My dealer says there is no service untill 2 years or 30.000KM here in Spain...

It does not make any sense, I thought engine, gerabox and diferential oil was changed after the break in...
Thanks!

Than your Dealer has no clue. Tell him to call bmw in munich, cause there is a service after 1.200 Miles/2.000 Km.

Someone posted The Manual a while back. Run-in is described in it, but it is a very small chapter.

Here's the thread with the portion of the manual that talks about the run in service. OP, I suggest reading the whole thread from the begining as it's informative.

FYI, it appears that service guidelines are different in each market. I'm in Europe with my ED car I picked up a week ago, and when I brought it to the BMW dealer in Zuffenhausen last Wed. for an oil service (at around 650 miles, and some laps on the Nordschleife) he showed me a printout that indicated that euro models get an oil, tranny, and diff flush at 1000km. He said it was fine to do just the oil change as long as I do the other when I get the car back to the states, then I'll do all the fluids. Perhaps considering the generally higher speeds in Germany they specify more at the break-in service.

My oil service cost me 178 euros.
