Fuse question...

Can someone please confirm:

is there a dedicated fuse that can be pulled to disable the headlight washers?

Headlight washers are an element of the Cold Weather Package. Have you signed-on to that option?

I was under the impression that, unlike on the e90, headlight washers were included on every 1 series, regardless of the cold weather package.

I was as well, until, I picked-up my 135i yesterday. As it turns out, headlight-washers are included with the Cold Weather Package only.

+1

Cold weather packaged is required for washers on the 128i though.

Surname, those are not plugs. They are the pop-up headlamp washers. All US 135is have washers standard, though I wish it were not the case.

Plenty of confusion to go around on this topic... From bmwusa.com it shows the high pressure healight washer system as a standard on all 135i, CWP or not.

In the manual you should/will find a section on fuses including a mapping and legend of each fuse. Can someone please take the time to scope this out?

It also shows that fuse 48 is for your windshield washers too.

He didn't ask what else it would disable...just what fuse it was.

There has to be a way to disable them ... btw .. when would they kick on?

Thanks,

They kick in every time you hit the windshield washer. Scared the poo out of me when I did it. Thought there was a major wate leak in the front of the car.

I am sure there is a connector somewhere close to washers...

Does it always engage whan you use the windshield spray? On my Audi, you have to hold it for 3+ seconds for the headlight washers to go, otherwise it's just the windshield washers.

Hmm...don't know. I held the stalk in until water came out of the spritzers on the windshield.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping it wouldn't be a shared fuse... sadly it is.

Not sure 100% on the 135i, but for the E46 models the headlight washer should only be triggered witht he headlights ON, and when you hit the windshield washer signal (makes sense no?)

I am also certain there is a way to isolate the headlight washers themselves, be it a control wiring scheme with resistors, or a more severe action such as disabling wahser fluid delivery to the headlamps.

Well, that's irritating. I'll just have to go slap my sales guy for misinforming me.

The headlight washers do engage immediately when you hit the windshield washers, but only when the headlights are on.

The EXACT same thing happened to me!! My delivery guy at the Performance Center even said I didn't have them, that it was only part of the cold weather package, so I was REALLY surprised when all the spray suddenly erupted from the front of the car!
