N55 55k miles is this a normal amount of build up?

Looks normal to me. Mine were in the same condition before I got the walnut blasting done at around 90,000km mark. You can still drive around for a few more miles if needed to save for the walnut blasting as it isn't exactly the cheapest thing to do but it does help a lot. Also, you'll notice a bit of oil, I was about to buy a Catch-Can but for the N55, it really isn't needed unlike the N54 platform.

If you DIY, take special care around the yellow circle. That is where the valve cover vents into the port. If you get wild shells will go up and into the vc and you'll just create more problems.
