OP: Toyota/Subaru puts small wheels and tires on that car to increase dead cat space and make it easier to break the rear end loose to have fun at low speeds with low power on the street/track.
and who doesn't want to have fun? =) |

I understand the differences between the 1M and our non M's. My statement still stands, if you want to improve your non M, try to make it more like the 1M. I never said wider tires or even all my mods will make a car anywhere near as good as a 1M.

This my 128i with 225 square. I was surprise how we'll it handle on the track. Mostly depends on the compound.

At 3:18 ^^^ the rear didn't break lose it was my fault lol trans wouldn't get into 3rd gear and some now the gate let me put it in 1st. I revved out close to redline and the rear locked up for a sec but I corrected it instantly and brought the car back straight again.

215/45/17 tire on the Toyoburu is the basically the same size is the fronts on the 135i. Since the 135i is heavier, much more powerful and has some turbo lag, 245 isn't too much tire for the rear of the car. There's no need to go skinny and cheap.

The car is faster with more tire. With its weight and power, I don't think you can over tire it with street tires.
Yes, most people won't use it. Most people don't know how to drive in the first place. Actually, I'd say there is a lot more talk on here of "stancing" our cars, which is sad, but to each their own. I autocross my car, and I'd put 285 square on it if they would fit, and it would definitely improve course times. That might be too much for a Miata or BRZ, but not for a 135i. I do think camber in front is more important that getting massive tires. It's the #1 problem. #2 is the tire width and just the stock RFTs in general.
