Did you see the car in person or purchase unseen?

mmm they both have a ton of tick boxes haha

though with the blue one, i don't mind doing that stuff myself..

the red one though.. great value with those k's!.. and i do love the red on red.

luckily, prefer the totally stock unmolested variant in many ways - can get the mods you want - and knowing it hasn't had a tune on it before isn't too bad either

That is providing it is I true stock car, I know many that are on the market now were modded and put back to stock to be sold.

If you own one of these cars you are a car enthusiast why would you not mod it

If the mods have been done using quality parts and by a shop that has some idea you would save yourself a heap of $ by purchasing a modded car.

We all know how good these cars/engines are, I would sooner have a car that has had a service every 5/7,000km and owned by an enthusiast than one that has had Mr BMW wave its bullshit magic wand over once a year and tell you the oil is fine I fined these cars are always a bit knocked around and given the big tidy up to be sold.

Just have it checked out or pay the price

I had them send through a few photo's but sight unseen is how I would describe it. I guess I had faith in the fact that it was a large BMW Dealership and it was obviously one they sold originally and traded back. I relied a lot on BMW's reputation for customer service, and the warranty they supplied me. I visited a few dealers in QLD and talked to a lot of them on the phone. Customer Service was outstanding and I took this to be a indicative of all the major BMW dealers.

that's true

no chance i'm not changing all the 'lifetime fill' fluids ASAP

the guy we're buying off definitely isn't a car enthusiast though, unless he was a very good liar haha - especially with dust being on all the bolts (intake/exhaust) i could see, leads me to believe they are either untouched (recently) or very elaborately reinstalled... OBD port didn't look touched any time recently for a flash either

i couldn't see any on carsales at least that gave 'value for money' purely on mods either

i'd rather than anything have one unmodified and ALSO serviced well before interval :P

on the other hand... 'enthusiast' and doesn't mean 'well modified and maintained' either :/

I've seen 135i's for sale on this very forum that have been drag raced at Willowbank, on the dyno, and of course modified. Then these exact cars are sold or traded back to the BMW dealership and sitting on their showroom floor waiting to be sold. The first time I saw this happen for a 135i was early 2009.

Everyone I've come across that picks up a used performance car likes to think that their car has always been taken care of. Unless you know the previous owner personally and very well, there really is no way of knowing for sure.

Had a look at this one, too many mods for my liking, and out of my price range (although good value for money considering the mods/extras). I like to keep my cars reasonably original!

Peoples thoughts on these two?:

Private sale:

priivate one looks worth checking out.. small mods show some level of care

dealer one is more expensive with more kilometers, but probably some level of warranty?

Have enquired on both - the dealer gives 3month/5K km warranty.

If I make the trip over east I want to come back with a car in hand!

Private one says "Latest Service: 19/09/2013" - time travel mod?

$41k is cheap though, and it has PSS which saves you $1.5k to ship and fit.
