GTech 0-60MPH Results - Video
Took the 135i (all stock) out to do some GTech testing - what a blast! There was a good bit of wheel hop on some of the launches, but I think different tires (or road surface) will fix that. I like how it leaves two nice patches. Had to do a little burnout at the end.
I'm not doing any clutch slipping - just releasing around 2500-3300RPM - slipping the clutch in 1st would probably result in a better time. In DTC mode, I would usually get around 5.2-5.3 seconds - best times were with traction control turned off. Power upgrades was certainly one of the reasons for buying this car - 'bolt on' an extra 80ft-lbs of torque is very appealing! I'm going to leave it stock for a while though - just enjoying it how it is. I may want to do some suspension stuff first. Going to take the 135i to an autocross this weekend - first time with it! Really looking forward to that. -Joe http://www.lovehorsepower.com |

Nice time. I've been itching to dust off my GTech and get some numbers down. I'll post them here if/when I end up doing some runs.

SlickShift - I think the GTech is a great tool. I've used it for many years tuning my 1991 MR2 turbo. BMW must make a very noise free electrical system, as I couldn't get the meter to pick up RPMs. I'll try plugging it into a different 12volt source and see if that helps. -Joe http://videos.lovehorsepower.com |

I have steptronic and I can consitently get around 4.90-5.05. If you practice you can eventually keep it under 4.99 sec. My fastest is a 4.84. My rears are also bald.

It is a 'GTech Meter':
http://www.gtechpro.com/ It has three accelerometers in it to measure your 0-60 MPH times, 1/4 mile times, 60-0 distance, lateral acceleration and even outputs dyno graphs (assuming it can pick-up an RPM signal from the 12volt source). It's a great too for tuning (such as an engine management system) - much cheaper than going to a dyno everytime. -Joe http://www.lovehorsepower.com |

How did the autocross go? If you have any suspension questions please feel free to ask... we've learned a few things after road racing our 135i

The AutoX was great - had a blast in the 135i. So much torque! Not used to so much power down low coming from the MR2 turbo which is tuned much more for high end power (5k to 7.5k RPM).
Here are the times: http://www.nccbmwcca.org/usermedia/r...090613_fin.htm I was the only 135i at this event. I would have gotten a 50.0 second run, but I hit a cone...or more accurately *smashed* a cone with extreme prejudice during the slalom part of the course. I ran the first run in DTC mode, and the rest with it disabled. The car does understeer, but it's not bad. If I put on a different suspension, I'd want to tighten up the rear a little. I did notice that the oil temp got just over 250 degrees after the 50 second or so runs. I'd like to do a road course at Summit Point - hope the oil temps don't get much higher than 250. That's hot! -Joe http://videos.lovehorsepower.com |
