I've been trying to chase down a little sound I hear from the passenger side of the engine bay when I go over large bumps and found this thing just dangling around freely. it almost looks like it has a speaker on it or something? what is it? should it be loose like this?

That is the auc sensor. Smells air to switch from fresh air to recirc in auto mode for air control.there is a little holder with a circular pattern right below it that it clips into.

We installed that to secretly release small sprays of cockpit premium smell into the a/c vents for him.

To get it into the clip you need to position the sensor with the wire facing towards the back of the car. Turn the back of the sensor up about 1/8th of a turn and it should slot right in, then just turn it back to the horizontal position and it should click right in. Same process in reverse to remove it.

Edit: For you in an LHD you're going to be standing on the passenger side of the vehicle to be doing this and the sensor should be on the far side of the circular clip and you insert it in towards you.
