Leather seats starting to flake. Help

The seats in my 2012 135i are starting to, for lack of a better word, flake. It almost looks like the dye is flaking off at the end of some pressure creases. Does anyone know how to stop this from getting worse or better yet, reverse it? Here are a couple of pics:

Thanks.

I used a colored leather balm to mitigate a similar problem with the seats on my 135i. I used a 600 grit sandpaper to remove the rough edges of the worn areas then wiped everything down with a rag with a little rubbing alcohol (gets rid of greases).

Once the leather is smooth and cleaned you can apply the leather balm, which comes in colors. That will hide the problem.

Here's where I got the color balm: https://www.furnitureclinic.com/Leather_Recoloring_Balm

Try Leatherique. They offer products for leather seat restorations.

I recently emailed Todd at Esoteric Detail - check out his gallery, he's worked on some crazy stuff over the years - regarding a similar situation in my other car (but worse than yours). If you have real flakes, you'll need a proper repair.

That being said, yours looks minor enough that a little *very light* sandpaper on *very small* spots to knock of the tiny peels, plus Leatherique conditioning should do the trick. I haven't used Leatherique personally, but thats what Todd has recommended for years.

I *have* used Zymol conditioner, and it does smooth out/soften distressed leather as well. YMMV.

Those actually look like scratches or scrapes to me.
