DIY Headrest Action Camera Mount
Once upon a time I saw this: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39...era-mount.html (if the link disappears just google "My $6 DIY Headrest In-Car Camera Mount") so I thought I'd do my own version with 3D printed parts. This led to:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...3#post18642493 Someone asked for a DIY write up so I'll toss in a few details. All the 3D STL's for the parts can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1035054 If you want to edit the parts to fit your needs let me know I can throw you the Solidworks models. Things you need to purchase: 1) One: 3/4" PVC SCH-40 pipe. Mine had a 1.055" OD and 0.80" ID 2) Four: 1/4-20 x 2.5" hex bolts 3) Four: 1/4-20 nuts 4) Swivel camera head. Mine happen to come with M4 thread to mount so i bought a M4x20 hex bolt to thread it on. Now that you have all that, drill a bunch of holes in the PVC and you're good to go. I suggest mounting it to the drivers side so the seat is more stable. In an empty passenger seat, the seat bounced around a lot. Also, if you're not going with a camera that has image stabilization I might go with something more rigid than a PVC tube. by Last edited by muddtt; 09-25-2015 at 07:08 PM.. |

It wasn't too bad. But yea it wasn't perfect. Also that old camera of mine was kind of heavy.
