I'm not 100% sure but I think you insert the boot and then flip it inside out and tie it to the shift stick very tight, then you flip it back over and put your boot clips into the center console and put your knob on!!
that's how I would imagine it goes on..... or you can unclip the stock boot from the center console and see how BMW Did it, and then do like they did!!

Hey Whiteout, I also got that shift knob about 2 weeks ago, and I'm loving it. IMO, it feels nicer in the hand than the stock M leather one. With this metal shifter, you can "feel" the metal shaft's "movement" - it basically transfers the tactile metal vibration through to your hands, rather than being absorbed by the padded leather. The result feels very sporty!
Anyway, it's very easy to install. I used this link for reference (thanks to Andy M): http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6664 You don't have to attach the shifter to the boot. The shifter snaps on to the shaft and presses against the top of the boot. However, you can fix the boot directly on to the shifter if you prefer, but I didn't. Good luck! |
