I personally would not be dealing with someone who has this much trouble with the English language, but it's your money and your deal. |

I ordered mine before the convertible was priced. The dealer (a friend) said '...not a penny over MSRP.' - which is fine with me.
I am looking on my Order Confirmation and all the prices are marked 'USD Blocked', obviously, but there is a 'Price Disclaimer' that says 'Total MSRP excludes destination charge, all taxes, title/documentary fees, registration, tags, BMW center preparation charges, BMW center installed options, insurance, certificate of compliance or non-compliance fees, and finance charges. Prices vary by BMW center.' So, $399 might be a heck of a deal... |

In MD there is usually a $99 doc fee but other than that you shouldn't have anything else on your car besides taxes (which can vary, tire tax, etc depending on your state).
Dealers are already making 2+k on MSRP no reason to gouge anymore that that IMO. |

One dealer quoted me a $149 doc. fee. The dealer I ordered through has no doc. fee. It's all about the dealer if you ask me.

They are making 4k on my car by selling msrp with the options I got. Well closer to 3k when you take into consideration the 775 delivery charge.

They informed me tonight that it was a documentation fee and there was nothing they could do about it. I will stay with the dealer because the car is almost built and exactly how I wanted it.

A $399.00 doc is fine (a bit high, but fine and apparently within your state's guidelines), so you're all set! As long as it's not $399 on top of another doc fee, it's not a problem.

Want to talk about BS fees, in NJ we have to pay a 0.04% luxury tax on top of the sales tax any car that is 45,000 or more. So, i optioned my 1 out to where i wanted it, checks in at 45,210, so I have to pay it. That is garbage.

in a word: YES
In my experience it always comes up when I'm in the finance office doing the paperwork, and I simply say "no thanks". Then they try to convince me otherwise, but i continue to refuse to pay it, and in end the I don't...the etching is still on the windows, but it's just not registered with the company. If it was a case of them asking me if I wanted it first, me saying yes, and then later refusing to pay for it, then it might be bit more of a fight. But like I said, around here it seems most dealers automatically put it on all the cars and try stick you with it. On a side note, my wife used to do dealer recs for a dealership, and she was saying that you can register yourself with the place for like $40... I've never bothered with trying to do it, but gives you an idea of the profit they are making. |

but it's for a worthy cause; it goes to pay the medical bills for the governor after he goes flying through the windshield because he wasn't wearing a seat belt and was exceeding the speed limit by 50%(for no good reason).
