Misfire cylinder 2 any input?

So today I got a misfire in cylinder 2 at WOT. Spark plugs were changed less than 10k miles ago. Car is approaching 63k miles and is fbo any ideas? I'm thinking coil pack

*UPDATE* I swapped the coil and the misfire followed. Replaced the coil and shes running like new

usually it's your coils. i had a misfire in cyl #4 and #5 so i changed the plugs. same misfire happened at WOT. changed out #4 and #5 coils and she's running new again.

I hope it's coils and not injectors. Gonna take it to mechanic tomorrow morning to see for sure. :/

If it's the injectors and you can be without the car for a couple of days Marrion Injectors can clean / blueprint them pretty inexpensively. I'm having mine done (different car) and the cost for four is right around $100 total. Injector.com

And they're located in CT. I dropped mine off to their ship; they only charge/ $10 for next day delivery in CT.

But sounds like what I'm experiencing; a bad coil. ~ $50

Usually in this order... spark plug/coil pack/injector/carbon buildup.

Easiest thing is to move that cylinder spark plug to another spot, and see if the misfire code moves. Then you will know what you next step should be.

hook up pressure gauge, activate injectors VIA diag scan tool, watch pressure on each individual injector activation. This will determine if injector is the issue. Misfire can also be caused by faulty vanos solenoids. My cylinder 3 misfire was due to faulty intake vanos solenoid.

Garage List
Had the same issue but on C1, do the swap to diagnose if it is just the coil.

Seems to be a fairly common problem with the 1? I was looking through other threads a few months ago for the same problem and the bimmerfest forums had a lot of similar issues. Ultimately it was a coil, but the problem has since returned and I need to replace another. Thinking of just upgrading to the high perf ones anyway...

What are the high performance ones that you're considering?

This seems to be a pretty common issue. My car is also mis-firing and already changed plugs. Are these an item that all should be replaced at a specific mileage like plugs?

I've never heard of high performance coils. Anyone have info/link?

Mine is fine but I like to do preventative maintenance. Its my daily driver and I depend on it for work all year, so I want to keep it running at top shape.

I'm fairly certain bav auto had... I looked into it when I first had this issue. Money has prevented me from pursuing it though. Looking at site now, I don't see, but I know I tore out the page from the catalog. As soon as I find them online I'll post the link. I was interested in the extra hp. The car is my daily, but I beat the crap out of it at Autox every weekend.
