Accuracy of BMW Tracking Service
What has been everyone's experience with the accuracy of the BMW Tracking Service (Web site vs. 1-800 number)?
What I am particularly interested in, is finding out how long people have noticed it takes the site to update (and 1-800#), versus what they have been told by their CA, contact at Munich, genie in a bottle, etc... For example: How many days did your car sit at the port, but you were told by someone else it was loaded on the ship already, but the site and 1-800# hadn't been updated with that info?

Whereas I haven't completely analyzed the whole thing.. the online tracking was pretty on target.. I'd have to say within a day or two and seemed to match up with the 1800 number. To be honest, I was WAY ahead of my associate and was telling THEM where my car was, haha.
The worst time was waiting at port for a boat.. There weren't any updates and it took a week and a half before anything happened. From there, my associate gave me an ETA.. It's currently on target to hit that date. (which is in 2 days) |

After the order was placed it took about two weeks for the model and options to be correct. After Euro Delivery my 128i was show as at the preparation center for more than two years.

I found the on-line tracking to be pretty good and the 800 number pretty bad. The 800 number had my car going back and forth across the Atlantic even after it arrived in the US.

That is what the tracking WWW page said. It was only at the prep center for four weeks waiting for an agricultural inspection.

My car just arrived at the Port of Baltimore this afternoon, right on schedule. The AIS site shows it in port, however the BMW tracker tool shows it still on its way. We'll see how long it takes to update.

Ok, so now the BMW tracker says my car is receiving finishing touches. Basically, it takes about 2.5 days to update vs. what intel I have from other tracking services. The 1-800 number says my car is at the port still awaiting a shipping vessel...really out of date!
