2012 135i Shark Fin

What is in or what purpose does the shark fin on the roof serve? Is it just an antenna?

The reason I ask is because I was backing out of my garage and the fin hit the door which did not open completely. I does not appear to have damaged anything except scraping the top. I was surprised at how sturdy it was.

It's a proven fact that the shark fin helps you cut through the air with the greatest of ease.

Does that blue connector for the GSM antenna end up somewhere accessible on the dash?

I have an aftermarket cell phone booster and would rather not install the antenna they provide, if I can tap into an existing one.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question. Maybe ask the OP in that link I provided on the e90forum.

Garage List
2012 BMW 135i  [0.00]
1999 Lexus LS400  [0.00]
1985 BMW 325e  [0.00]
My shark fin also has a scar from a garage door that wasn't completely open. I've been watching for a Space Grey replacement on eBay forever but no dice. It's not too difficult of a job. I replaced the shark fin gasket on my E46 330i and it was pretty easy.
