If not stock runflats...what would you put on your 1?
So far I have been happy with the runflats, but I was just wondering if there were any better options. Not really a change in size, but just the tire. Better performance and ride if that is possible? Also, if it is a non runflat is there some kind of flat fix kit until you can make it to a service dept?
Thanks!

Hi Katera,
Have the same problem even though the car is still 8 weeks away. BWM have chosen a strange tyre size combination, however the rims are great so I plan only to change the rubber. Closest I can see is Falken Azenis RT-615 225/4518 front and 255/40/18 rear. Both are perfect fit for the rims however I have heard there may be clearance problems with front struts. Can anyone clarify this issue? Mike... |

And so would 255x40-18. Better size (although not available in RT-615s):
225x40-18 front 255x35-18 rear

I went with the Star Specs, and they are pretty sticky, plus they do not seem to be anywhere near as loud as the Yoko Advan Neova AD-07's on the highway. |

Larryn and Mikeo,
Sorry to pester you again, the Star Specs look great but I need to know if you have any clearance issues with the extra width and how has the handling balance/feel changed? I understand tolerances are very tight. We expect to remove the run flats immediately after delivery and will install space saver for back up. Cheers Mike... |

I don't have them on my car yet, and when I do it will be on BBS 17" wheels. Larry has 17" 245x40 Star Specs mounted on 17x9 D-Force et41 wheels with no problems. If you stay with stock OE wheels the suggested 225 and 255 should fit with no worries. You could confirm with Gil at TireRack.

Agree wholeheartedly with Mike. I plan on getting a set of these for replacement of my runflats too, probably in the 225/255 fitment.

The 135i performance rotors are the same dimensions as the OE rotors so no worries. In a test fit on the front, the 17x8 BBS RG-R et40 has 2-3mm clearance off the back of the brake caliper and will be fine for strut and fender clearance. The rear RG-R are 17x9 et42 (45 is about ideal for 9" wide wheels) and should work fine with 245x40, and maybe 255x40 if the car is at stock ride height.

225x45-17 would work for sure. 245x40-17 would be preferrable over the 235x45 I think.

Just remember that if you start trying >225 fitment up front, you may very well start needing to use spacers with the stock wheels. 225's should fit without a problem, but going beyond that will likely force the usage of spacers.

Larrys right. 225 fit on the stock 264 wheels and can go lock to lock without rubbing as well as full jounce with the steering wheel at 90 deg off center. any bigger and you are going to have issues with the strut.

Almost through my first set and probably going to go with Nitto Invo - 225/40 and 255/35...had some on my AMG I traded and they were a great tire for the money...Also a big fan of Toyo, but softer side walls = not as good on corners, but they are bit softer/stickier than Nitto's.

I don't know much about tire fitting. I'd like to get 225 and 255 on the stock 18" wheels. I'm thinking of either getting the Nitto Invo's or PS2's. Which would you recommend and what offsets would I need? Thanks.
