You damn well know who I was talking about. Guys drive lousy old BMW cars will never pay for a E90 at the end of the day. Whether there will be a 335, M3 are none of their business.

Easy sport... I still don't understand what you are saying. For one thing, I wasn't yelling. I thought you were making a negative remark regarding the OP. I thought you said he was jealous of people with the E90. Since that appears not to be the case... who were you talking about? Just curious.

Official? Does that mean you have a "realiable source" or an official source?

- the 325 will be replaced with a 235 hp 328 (probably with direct injection) and
- the 330 will be replaced by a 335 : a 3.5 liter 310+hp normally aspirated variant of the 3.0 liter, probably also w/direct injection.
- No turbos.

Thoughts anyone? Please discuss.

this discussion is just dead. It's pointless to speculate. Just wait and see. I personally don't see a reason to enhance a 3.0L engine and use it for 1 yr...then change to a new 3.5...i'd guess they will start by 2008 model if it ever does happen. But eitherway...i don't really care until I see one in person

Good man.
You have to excuse my sense of humour.

i would not trust BMW NA as much as BMW AG. Simply because....who makes the cars? Well...STOP THIS THREAD ALREADY! getting really dull....

Very possible. It is BMW's power war with Mercedes' s new line of 24valve DOHC engines introduced in 2005. Marginally, a 335i Coupe Cab is a mild 'upgrade' for current E90 owners. It is more reasonable to assume M3 E90 is a more sensible upgrade for existing E90 owners who deeply fall in love E90.

Ok, people need to calm the heck down. What's with all the hate on this board anyway? Guys, this is a MESSAGE BOARD for sharing of information. SpeedFreak is a guy who's been good for information in the past...what the heck does he have to gain by lying?

He's giving us info that he knows...it may not be technically "official" yet, but who freaking cares? If we're going to restrict conversation to only things that are "officially" on BMW's website, that's boring. I for one APPRECIATE people who try to contribute to these boards with info they have that the rest of us don't have access to.

If you have conflicting info or opinions, try to state them like adults...

Here's the info I was given today:

I talked with our rep and he said the rumor at BMW NA is that the HP may increase, but not until June or later. I do not know if he really knows what he is talking about or not.

I was told that those that surf the internet usually know more before the dealers do. 100% truth to that.

BMW marketing is a liar , kept all information secret.
They were so scare about Mercees. BMW damn sold me a Z3 just six months before they launched Z4. I assure you, including the BMW salesman, they won't tell you a damn thing.

Sorry to hear about that. It is possible your salesperson didn’t know of the new model.

The salespeople are normally the last to know about new models. A salesperson will try to sell whatever is easiest and makes them the most profit which would be the latest product. It benefits the salesperson to sell you the latest product because they can charge a premium to be first and you will be a happy customer to have the latest. A happy customer gives good marks and returns to buy again. It’s a win-win as far as you and the salesperson are concerned.

In most companies the R&D (engineering/development) know first because they are working on the product. Marketing execs hear about it next to prepare the product message for the consumer. Most companies keep the R&D (and any information) away from Sales because a salesperson would "let the cat out of the bag". That would decrease sales of the old product that still needs to be sold. So salespeople are the last to know in the hierarchy of a company.

Ok, maybe the receptionist is "the last" person to know. My point is you shouldn’t blame your salesperson as he/she may not have known.

My salesperson admits to me that he knows less about new models than what's posted on the internet. He says they are always the last to hear the official word on anything. I like my salesperson, he’s honest with me. For what its worth I think a Z3 is a great car.

Before you get too excited over the rumored power upgrades.

1. BMW has a pretty good rep for not undercutting resale of previous models with too-frequent upgrades. The E90's just been out a year. I would expect to see changes for '08 models, not '07.

2. Since when has BMW not charged an arm and a leg extra for more power? They take the same 3.0 engine in the 325 and add fancy induction systems and poof...it costs $5,000 more. A similar power increase in a pickup truck is $500. (not that there isn't more sophistication involved). Part of what makes the 3 an attractive car for me is that you can still get one for a little over $30K. But 335's loaded will be at $50K I'd guess. That's a whole different class of car.

3. BMW may have decided to pull a Porsche here and move the line up-level to avoid the Acura/Infiniti/Lexus competition. Or to make room below for a 1-series to fill.

Bruce I think you are right on point. Note that the $5K also includes extra standard equipment as well though.

I was read a bulletin yesterday over the phone that the E92 coupe will be here in August of 2006 or maybe that is when SOP is. I didn't pay much attention as I am not interested in the coupe. I love the 3-Series coupes and have had my share of them, but with a child it makes it too difficult.

As for info & pics being officially released, I am going by SpeedFreaks info.

That has been hinted at for some time, and still appears to be the case. If its not December, it will DEFINITELY happen by March. But from what I have read/heard the December/January launch date seems to be the most accurate.

I 100% agree, with everything but the Z3 comment . My Salesperson is the same way, and thats one of the reasons I like him. Ofcourse, my guy also is reading the internet!

That wasn't only SpeedFreaks info, Tine/Scott also confirmed this date, as well as a few German Magazines.
