Testing my new stg 3 set up
I just got my ETS IC and full exhaust on the car and I am really loving the sound and the performance is great. I just tested out my stg 3 tune with the new hardware and it is really running strong. Should get to the dyno soon and see how its doing,

Yeah right, 265whp stock, 320whp stg 1 and 400+whp stg 3...
First one is comparison to JB4, you can see peak numbers are the same, but look at run 1, the ecu tune from 5k on. Second graph is stg 1, ecu tune only on a dynojet dyno. Third graph is the same stg 1 ecu tune only on a dyno dynamics dyno, stock and stg 1 tune only. JZW |

I was a little surprised that the light came on with my two computers in the right seat, but half way home the light did come on telling me the computers were not protected :-)

My tune made better power than the JB4, the dyno graph is shown above, my tune overlayed over the jb4, look at how the true ecu tune does past 5k, makes better power all the way out. Much easier than the piggy back wiring, you just plug into the obd2 port and 9 minutes later its flashed and ready to go :-)

I use WinOls and a good a2l to do my tuning, loving the potential of the N54 engine, can't wait to see what larger turbos bring to the table. Should dyno my new set up soon, data logging is looking good :-)

also the jb4 can switch maps fast and turn it back to stock, what if u want to run race fuel ? if u have jb4 u can switch to map 7 or 5, in your situation it will take long time |

very true, with only intake and axle back, the JB4 had mine doing 343hp at the wheels and 370tq. the shift light in dash and the fuel gauge hijack to show boost is a great option as well. i like the bypass mode so i can take it to dealer and not loose the warranty on everything. i like being able to switch to economy mode for highway traveling and then back to map 5 for E85 or just 93 octane and back to stock again all at the steering wheel controls. cant wait till i get downpipes and intercooler to see where it goes with HP numbers. for $500 that seems to be a better option than flashing the ecu. i guess its all up to personal opinion. wish i had the G5 board.

The piggy back is close, but I prefer to tune the actual timing and fuel maps and load maps and have the ecu actually targeting the power its making, this has been tested against some of the piggy back tuners out there and the general consensus is that it makes a little more power and does it a little more smoothly.
Ask Michael of ETS how he likes his new tune after running a piggy back for years :-) I put on and took of the JB4, definitely took more time and was kind of a pain and the true ecu flash goes in 9 minutes on my car. You can have multiple files with it, 91 octane, 93 octane, E30 or race gas and you just plug into the diagnostic port and 9 minutes later, its flashed and ready to go. You want to go to the dealer, no taking the front end apart and messing with all those wires, just a simple flash and you are back to OEM file. I am sure the Jb4 works just fine, I just prefer a true ecu tune where the ecu has the timing and fuel maps adjusted to get the max power that you can safely with all the safety of the DME system intact. You have your spool up timing, spool up fuel, variable cam timing and having your load maps actually trying to achieve the boost you are running is always best. In my opinion, the tru ecu re-flash is always going to be better than a piggy back as fare as making strong smooth power and keeping the safety in tact. JZW |

I've been very happy with my tune from JZW Tuning. I've tried everything. Procede, JB4, Cobb and now the JZW tuning. I compare it to the Cobb tune but with more top end power and a little better throttle response.
I've always had slight hiccups with the piggy backs and never that OEM feel. The JZW tune really gives me a broad power range, great drive-ability and my gas mileage has even improved. I'm very happy with the car again. You will lose a couple features like gas gauge boost gauge/wide band. But none of these were really important to me. I truly love my car again. If anyone is in the Vancouver, WA and wants to see how the car drives and reacts I would be glad to show you. The best part of the whole experience was the fact that I sent him my actual ECU file. He tuned my actual ECU file and after upload the car runs flawless. Thanks! Michael |

A piggyback will never beat a actual tune. But for us who care about warranty work it's a better option. If my car was out of warranty (no where near it though) then I would find a local tuner to get some magic done to the ECU.

That is a point and from what I understand, you put it back to stock with the I flash tool I use and the dealer is not really going to know. I took it in to see if they would notice and they did not.
The only time it would be a real issue is if there was some bad damage and they were looking to see peak boost and then they can link up to Germany remotely and then they could see. For the most part, you put it back to stock when you go to the dealer and nothing will ever be noticed, especially a simple stg 1 tune that gives you 350whp with stock exhaust and hardware. PS, Going to dyno the Stg 3 set up tomorrow, hope it makes around 400whp, but will not know for sure until I get there. JZW |

413whp on E30 Stg 3 JZW Tune
Put my car on the dyno today with E30 fuel and it made pretty good power, the timing looks good and its still within safe limits. Did a lot of data logging on the road before heading to the dyno.
412whp and 475wtrq is the best I could do with it with Stg 3 hard ware, full exhaust and ETS intercooler and me tune. Pretty happy with it, very consistent too. JZW |
