Spare tire - where can I find a donut?

All,

I want to scrap the run flats and buy some quality rubber. Unfortunately, BMW has put us in the spot of not having a spare incase of the unforseen. Does anyone know if a spare can be cannibalized off of an older BMW that will fit our funky offsets (front and rear)?

My body-shop repair guy planted the idea in my head that there was a spare from an older like 325 convertible that might fit.

Thoughts?

Another option is to carry a 12v compressor and a plug kit, you can plug most holes that you'll encounter on the road (except a catastrophic failure like a blowout), insert the plug, pump the tire up and continue on your way. When you get back to familiar ground take the tire in for a proper patch and you're ready to go.

If you do decide to carry a spare, don't forget a jack and make sure your lug bolts also work with the spare.

BMW make a purpose built space saver wheel, jacking kit and a wheel cover complete with fitting lugs to clip into the lugs in your boot. I just got mine from my local dealership, and can post the part numbers if I can find them?

Ok here goes, found the invoices!

The spacesaver wheel fits perfectly on the front and back, clearing the brake calipers on my 135i M Sport Coupe. The tyre is a 125/80/17 Continental. The BMW part number for the wheel is B.36.11.0.443.369.

It has a zippered "bag", the wheel fits inside perfectly and the bag has clamps that clip into the fixings already located in your boot. The bag is black, and has the BMW logo on it. BMW part number is B.51.47.0.444.689

The jacking kit is also in a black zippered bag, rather heavy and contains a jack, ratchet mechanism for the jack seperately, wheel torque wrench, wheel chock, pair of gloves and a wax crayon to mark out the puncture! BMW part number B71.10.6.773.536

I can try and sort out pics if you need them.

Hope this helps

Stuart

Thanks,

Didn't you look at the link I posted above in my first post to this thread!?!?!?

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...e+alloy&page=2

You can see this steel spare tire and jack kit.

I went with a euro alloy wheel from a e90 car - since I am stationed over here in Germany. I wanted a light ally wheel instead of a steel one. Look at my posts and pics - in the above link on the 2nd page.

bye,
David

My post was in response to StuartM's post. He offered to post his part numbers. I asked him to do so. I've already seen the thread that you had linked. I wanted to compare StuartM's information to the information in your linked thread.

X5 Emergency Spare donut.

Stop spending bunch of money on OEM stuff. This is my experience to rid off run flat crap for my 2012 X5D.
Any spare donut from Mazda CX-& or CX-9 same size as OEM BMW 155/90D18.
Got on Ebay for $85. Original BMW spare wheel 5Jx18 part # 36116768861
On Ebay $75 shipped. Installation $15. Total $175. Saving compare with online sellers $120.
