Great. You can see the shape of the rear windows of the coupe in the 3rd pictures. Anyone good with photoshop care to try to photoshop the actual roof/window into that photo?

Those are some very revealing pics...not only can you see the roofline...you can also see the rear is partly fat-suited incl the trunk.
Nice to see the cab up ahead...looks like a mid-nite game on the tennis court...maybe they'll spawn and produce a coupe SAV.
Check out the 2-tone interior...Kinda Elvis but NICE. Uhh-uh-Huh!

How many tennis courts have barbed wire above their fences? Looks like this is where the fatsuits sleep at nite.

Good eyes Brookside, I didn't even notice that they were driving into a restricted area (most likely where the cars are kept). Also I didn't realize in the first set of phtoos from a couple days ago that there was an entire suit covering the trunk, but you can see it clearly from the 3/4 angle shot in the 4th pic.

Great pics Harold.

That two toned interior would definitely be nice :w00t:

Can't wait until some of that rear cladding comes off because that's really throwing off the balance of the car. It looks "clunky" right now but I bet under all that is a nice sleek package like that convertible photoshop in the other thread

does the plate ending in 35 mean anything or just coincidence?

These shots are more complimentary -- likely shot from closer range, I guess. They got a nice layer of fat over the rear quarter window, though. The first set of shots better telegraphed the shape of that window.

Yeah, there's still plenty of fat on that little guy. Again, deep bow to the fatsuit dept at BMW....you've kept us all guessing and getting eyestrain.

Those are Munich plates...single "M" denotes "Munchen"....Germany's largest cities get a single letter at the beginning of the plate...other than that...who knows if all the numbers mean anything.

These are definitely my favorite pics so far...they manage to give a real feeling for the car.

My own impression is it's a winner.
Gotta say that the first few photos Harold published it looked econobox to me....the early pics didn't quite have the brawniness of the hatch...
but after looking at these, it's pretty near perfect.
I'm totally sold on it. In person, I expect the coupe to be drop-dead gorgeous.
Add into the mix all the new technology that will come standard...and you've got something that is clearly going to be the benchmark for small-sporty automobiles.
Not to overstate things, but this is probably the most important car BMW has debuted in the past decade.
More than the X3 and X5 which seem to run counter to BMW's aesthetic and just a total nod to market forces.
This brings them back to their heritage of small-ish sports oriented automobiles...and it looks like they've pulled it off beautifully.

Are we SURE that's fat on the roof? Looks just like black film to me (check out the bubbles below the quarter glass). I'm definitely excited to see some actual pics of a prototype coupe, but have to admit to feeling a little let down by the transition between the C pillar and rear deck, seems somewhat awkward to me. Of course, that could well be the intent of the film; you can see how they extended it with a band across the leading edge of the trunklid to make it appear shorter. Regardless, I'm certainly not seeing anything that would keep me from buying one!:w00t:

Nice to see you've come around, Brookside. Thought we were losing you there for a while.

Both the coupe and the cab will be drop dead gorgeous, especially if Harold's ps of the cab are accurate. BMW is confirming why they are among the very best at what they do. Just about all the speculation to date has been scattered and the PSs have, despite best efforts, not captured the subtleties that can be noticed in the spy pics.

Bravo!!!

I've noticed that the roofline looks higher than it actually is because of the way they taped up the side rear windows. Once the windows are completely exposed the entire roof should look sleeker. Basically the entire back 1/3 of the car is clumsy because of the tape on the roof and the huge camo suit on the rear.

Oh man Spud, those first spy shots Harold published...welcome to see but pretty underwhelming...I guess because of lens distortion and the camo-cladding, it looked semi-econobox to me.
I thought at first that BMW had botched the design....and given us a runner and not a looker. So I pretty much kept my misgivings to myself.
The new pics have made a believer of me.

One thing tho is apparent...the coupe is virtually the same car as the new 3-door hatch from the front to the B-pillar.
Maybe there'll be slight differences- but none that I can see so far. The coupe is stuck (probably because BMW figured to get this out in a timely and economical manner)
with the hatch's design format...
I would've liked a higher shoulderline/lower roofline- but that'll probably have to wait until the next redesign which I hope gives the coupe dedicated sheetmetal.
As is- it looks really beautiful - even in these latest spy pics...maybe iconic/instant classic.

BMW will have a home run on its hands with the 1 Series in North America — currently it's difficult for consumers to get into the brand, having to pay some big dollars for a 3 Series (if they want a new BMW).

Consumers have had to settle for a VW Jetta or GTI. (Or a "front-drive BMW" Mini, which is hardly settling!) Then they become hooked and move up to Passats and Touaregs. And BMW exits the picture.

You're right sbw. There are many out there, such as myself, who would one day be staring down a 335i, a 5-series etc. The way BMW would put a better guarantee on that long term relationship is by offering something credible and compelling at a semi-affordable price point. The only current NA offering is the 323i (only in Canada) -- a $35K(CAD) car that doesn't include cruise control as a standard feature...

wow. i take back my comment after seeing the first spy shots. the lines on the car are gorgeous. i wonder what the trunk will look like unmasked. it still looks a little stiff, at least to me.

and that interior is beautiful. absolutely beautiful.
