So much for the 155 MPH speed limiter, that converts to 164.05 MPH
I know the speedometers are optimistic, but not that much WB |

How does the camera not move not even in the slightest, and how is there no reflection or light from outside??? also the field of view would put that camera within the steering wheel or behind it... so where is the wheel turning ???
I call BS

Speedo's lie. Most read 3 to 5% higher than actual speed. The car still is limited to 155 mph - if you had a GPS you would see that. 95% of 164 mph = 155mph. All //M models can have the top speed increased to a "real" 280 kph instead of the standard 250 kph limit. You just have to go thru M-driving school and get your racing licsence. Then go to a German BMW dealer (show them your certificate) and pay them to code the 280 kph V-Max limiter in. Or... get a tune. Dackel |

I will be running the car in an event that is becoming popular in the US, the standing start 1 mile, usually held on airport runways.
I have run my MINI on the Bonneville Salt Flats in their 1 mile event but I like the airport courses better, no salt to clean off I will run it first with the speed limiter in place to see if even kicks in in a mile, it takes some serious HP to break 150 in a standing start mile. If the limiter comes into play I will get the DINAN Stage 1 tune to get rid of the limiter. WB |

Speedo read 160+ mph, while the GPS registered a high of only 151mph. That's about 5% difference between speedo and actual. Didn't get to try out the tune the car had, to see if it really was unlimited past 155mph. Maybe next time |

I have tested my tune... yup, it is unlimited. Before when I was going 250 kph on the speedo... my gps would say I was actually doing 240 kph. I was pulling 5,400 rpms(@the speed limiter) in 6th gear. Now with my tune the fastest I have seen is 6,300 which is about 180 mph (291 kph). I haven't hooked up my gps - yet. Maybe when I go to Munoch (for the 1er meet @Welt) next week - on the A9 there are a few nice places to go extra fast. |

5400rpm + 0.85:1 6th gear + 3.15:1 rearend gear + 26.3" tall tire = 158mph. It looked like it was still going too, I didn't see it hit a limiter so maybe it's the same "155 mph" limiter the M3 has. US spec M3's top out at 161mph, somebody...has verified this on a "closed course" with GPS. The car doesn't ease up to it either, it's kindof like hitting the brakes
Speed limiters are so lame.

^^ convertible top malfunction. Apparently two approved the dealership to fix it after I turned it in just to figure out what the issue is. They authorized the $24K it takes to replace the whole roof if necessary :0

Something does not look right with that video. The sound, the wide angle shot of the gauges, the tach.
I am not sold.
