Window Goes Up & Bounces 1/2 Way Down

...happens randomly. Putting it up again usually works properly, sometimes a second bounce down. It happens on both front doors in our Conv. Is it a known problem? Is there a fix?

My passenger window did this...so they replaced the motor. Now all three of my other windows do it...so I've got 3 new motors on order

I had this issue briefly during my ED. The windows started working (stopped going down by themselves) after I held the button up for a few seconds. Hope I don't have to take it to the dealer to get new motors on a brand new car.

this is a big big problem on the MINI's. It was one of many problems I had with mine. I sold my MINI after 9 months and got the 135.

Check out this thread:

Try the reset option.

Hold button down for 15 seconds, then hold button up for 15 seconds. It resets the window to know where the stop points are.

It only worked on my MINI a few times. They ended up re-doing the software.

The root cause of this problem is the anti-pinch system. Power windows with the "auto-up" function would be dangerous without it. Basically, it detects when something is obstructing the window and causes it to go back down a few inches. You'll also notice this happening if you hit a bump while you're windows are going auto-up.

I had this problem too. My dealer had me hold the button up for a good 30 seconds to almost a full minute. Haven't had the problem since.

I've had this happened like 3-4 times in the past 2 weeks when I've NEVER seen it before.
Funny thoug, my 4 months of long-cranks 3 times a day without fail, everyday have completely stopped altogether. Haha. Weird car.

The only time I've had this happen was on the interstate when I was doing 85 plus, I figured it was part of the design of the car...

I also found out that if you just barely press or lift up on the window switches, the auto up and down doesnt work at all. So if you want to just crack the windows down a little or raise them up, or dont feel like fighting with the auto feature, just barely press or lift on the switch to use them in "manual" mode.

Yup... They are 2 position switches. Lift them up to, but below the "detent" and they work like normal switches. Pull past the detent & they are express up.

I had this problem during the winter -- had to go to the dealer and they did some software updates that fixed it. Weird stuff!

Thought I was imagining things when I saw this happen on my ED. Glad it's a known issue. Feel sorry for the people that own this car without belonging to an online forum like this.
