Thanks John!

With the alignment I think the shop set it all up at the front already, they just couldn't do the rear. It's supposed to be 2.5º negative camber at the front with a 2mm toe out I believe.

To be honest, it's not as go-karty as I would have liked but I think that's mainly due to the slow steering rack. I really wish there was something we could do about that. It definitely turns in and holds muuuuuch better than it did on stock suspension, and the LSD does wonders for acceleration through corners.

There is actually no difference at all between the BMWP calipers for a 135i other than the colour. The only reason I did it was purely for the colour lol. I paid about $2200 for the BMWP brakes kit which included the calipers, new rotors and new pads. I sold the new pads for $300 and I'm trying to sell my stock calipers, pads and rotors for about $1000. I figured $900 for some brand new calipers and rotors wasn't too bad of a deal.

I agree a faster steering rack would be better, particularly in those opposite-lock situations. If there is any question about understeer, I think wider front tires would make it more go-kart like on the circuit. On the other hand, maybe its not a bad thing to have staggered tires that will be forgiving and stable when you apply close to 300kW.

Even with the alignment as it is it felt really neutral at the limit. Slight tail out at times but nothing snappy.

But yeah, I remember going into a full fishtail a few times at Wakefield. I think I fish tailed about 3 times before spinning because I just couldn't keep up with the number of rotations I had to turn the wheel, it was ridiculous. I saved the first one and after that I'm just like fuck it. Too much work and let it spin.

According to a thread on N54 tech the M3 steering rack is a direct swap with the 335i.
You could be the first to give it a go on the 135i

From the bits and pieces I've picked up on realOEM, talking to HPA and talking to Pete, I'm not sure it will work. I think that 1Ms and M3s came with active steering only whereas mine does not, making it not a direct swap unfortunately. I would of course love to be wrong. Very wrong. I'll check out the thread. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice work dude, great to see she has come together albeit for a slight hiccup (How come Steve didn't have this issue?)

Thanks Shane!

I'm not sure. I asked Pete the same thing and he says it might be because Steve didn't use the lower camber links.

So active steering is the determining factor between being able to and not being able to do a steering rack swap?

How would one check if they do or do not have this option?

Actually after a bit if checking last night it appears that all of the 1Ms and M3s do not have active assisted (electric) steering, only hydraulic.

I sent replied to the thread of the guy who swapped an M3 rack into his 335i and he said that servotronic was not hooked up so the steering was pretty heavy at slow speeds. I assume it's not a 100% straight swap but still functional if swapped.

If I'm not mistaken Active steering changes the number of turns lock to lock required depending on the speed of the vehicle. It's still a Hydraulic system. Parked it should be 2 turns from all the way left to all the way right.

One way to tell if your car has active steering is from the reservoir cap design as outlined in this extract I stole from this thread:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267007

If you have a star shaped cap, you don't have active steering.
From what I can tell just by looking at a 1M engine bay, it has an Active Steering.

EDIT - Looking up a BMW 1M VIN Number you can see this option. My car does not have it :P

Looking nice, what suspension setup are you running with the M lower camber links?

Thanks mate!

I'm running a split Moton Clubsport kit with 135i front and 1M/M3 rear shocks. These are paired with swift springs, 560lb/10kg fronts and 800lb/14kg rears.

Thanks! I'm loving it.

Had a little tail out action this morning mid corner this morning and it just feels so much more progressive and planted in its breakaway.

Hey man,

Yeah I did put in the M3 LSD. It's a DCT 3.15 FD one. I love it! You can definitely notice it in the corners. I used to just get the rear sliding out everywhere but now it just accelerates through corners so much better.

I actually received a set of RE M3 adjustable toe arms and front tender springs from HPA and dropped the car back off at Advan for installation and alignment. Hopefully it should be back by next week and I can take it back out to the drag strip!

A couple new updates!

I uploaded some new procede maps as my maps were running a little funny. I used the 9-10 Stage 3 Aggressive maps with their stock settings. The car ran really well but required some tweaking of the meth injection mode as I was getting overflow faults so I increased it to 42. Even though my start boost was only 65% resulting in a maximum of around 17psi tapering towards redline I still managed my best dyno result so far.

Here are the logs:

Also, my girlfriend got my some personalised number plates for my birthday back in September. They finally arrived so I installed them last night. Here are a couple iPhone pics

Great project! Gear it up with some BMW Motorsport 410s. Car is now begging for RBs.
