135i vs Jeep SRT8

I'm thinking about swapping my 135 for a srt8 jeep.

Thoughts?

Crysler is not exactly in good times right now. I know a guy who has one of these and his is in the shop for little repairs quite often. Jeeps are not the best built cars in the world, there actually quite far from it.

Not in your life would I ever own another Chrysler product. Utter crap from a quality point of view. Nice engine in the SRT-8 but that's about all I can say that's good.

I had 2 Jeep SRT's back in 07. They are a beast from a Stop light, but run out of ooomph at 60-70. You can get a 09 loaded SRT that list for 50K for around 40K with all the discounts. The resale value is not the best, the ride is HARSH, lots of plastics on the inside, poor paint, not the best quality overall.

I averaged 10-11 MPG, less if I jumped on it. The AWD was nice in the winter. One was bought back by Chrysler for paint and defects, the other is now in NC with my son.

Not a lot of luggage space, and the back seat is tight. You really need to drive one for a bit at all speeds. The Jeep Service is not the best. But that big 6.1 sure does sound nice at WOT. Personally, I am done with Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep.

I just passed one of those on my way home today. Talk about a poster child for fat American excess. Aside from the obvious questions about what makes this a sensible comparison, I think the real question is who's problem would you be buying? Does it have any kind of warranty?

Get a 135i!!! idk why you would compare the 2.. Chrysler/Dodge has always been a no go in my book, I lost count of how many times Id see my neighbors Chryslers/Dodges getn fixed... GM or Ford are the best built American Muscle Cars.

the only real jeep has a removable top

just bought one last week myself, it's the wifes, new X JK, took it offroading saturday

if you dont understand why people buy (real) jeeps, the answer is, "it's a jeep thing" some get it, some dont

Never understood why people think a pickup truck with a back seat and covered cargo area that resembles an obese station wagon is "cool".

Wow I was showing some restraint before but looking at what you other guys are saying. I passed a SRT Jeep on an uphill climb in light snow in my 135i. A 4WD Jeep can't beat a RWD car up a hill? The Jeep is crap man, don't get it.

I never had one problem with my old Jeep SRT in a Chicago winter. As long as the snow was not higher than 8" (Front Fascia height) I never had a problem. It was great on snow, Ice, rain, and gravel. My RWD will often slip up the driveway in the snow, the SRT never did. Remember, under 5, wet or dry!

The only good Jeep these days is the Wrangler IMHO. Solid front and rear axles (only car in the US that has that), great on the trail, half-decent on the road, solid powerplant with decent MPG, and of course it's the personality of Jeep. Jeep starting losing it on all their other cars after the Cherokee..

Coming from Oz I wouldn't know a Jeep SRT8 if it fell on me. But I checked out a review which claims 0-60 in 4.5. If that's the case there aren't too many cars on the road it won't tear apart at the lights...including every M car made.

I can attest, it is a stop light beast. It just digs in and rips. I never lost at a stop light, but I would not want to run from 60-100 in it as it is build like a brick. It weighs in at close to 5000 pounds. With a Tune, cai, exhaust and good rubber, you are low 4's. Stock is anywhere from 4.5-4.7. Quarter mile low 13's and a few stcok ones high 12's. Heat soak is a big problem in the summer. My wife did not care for the ride. Now she is really looking forwward to her 135 vert. Heck, so am I.

Some solid feedback! The most appealing to me being that it has very little power after 60mph which is of course, a big part of why I love the 135 so much. 3rd gear 60mph to 90mph is just beautiful.

Too bad I can't afford both! That would be a solid set up. How come you didn't keep the jeep shodanusmc? I love the look with the 285 rears.....

I bought my first Jeep in Sept 06, a Steel Blue 07 SRT. It came with so many paint defects.....naturally they gave me a hard time with Digital Pictures, Authorization from Detroit, etc. Bottom line, they approved to repaint it at shop of their choice, and it came back worse. I got a lawyer, and the Zone approved a new one for me. I then got a Silver 07 in Dec 06. I had it for one week, and a 16 year old girl T-Boned it .....needed both doors replaced and other work. Took a month to get it back, and it just was not the same. Still fast and all, but I just fell out of love with it. My son was at NAS Pensecola and asked to buy it. He made me an offer I could not refuse....(He talked to his Mom and she said basically let him have it). He has made some mods to it (Vortec, Tune, exhaust, suspension. He loves it. After I gave it to him, I bought a 07 Dodge Super Bee....Damn, I am a glutton for punishment. The car lived at the shop, had paint issues etc. After a few months I sold it. I now have a E55, GT-R and an X5 4.4. The X5 is going when the 135 comes in, and I am going to buy a Honda Pilot Touring Model to haul the big Dog and all of my wifes flowers!

Here is a picture of the Bee and the Dog.

He is a 9 year old Cane Corso. He is now a slim 120 pounds.....he was at 130 when that pic was taken a few years ago. When he was into weight pulling, he was at 140.

Breed is not for everyone. They are from the farms of Southern Italy, used as guardians. They can be dog agressive, and bond to one family. A liability in the wrong hands. My guy is a big goof, and loves everyone. Our little 5 pound Yorkie bosses him around. I havily socialized him from a pup, and lot and lot and lots of obedience training.

I can't get past their interiors...blah. If you're looking at buying a new Jeep then take a look at used '07 ML63's. They're hovering around $52k and they're fast as hell with great interior appointments.
