My new shoes - Michelin PS2s

Just got the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s installed on Thursday. They're awesome! So far I have no complaints. Since I'm in a rush I'm copying and pasting what I've said about them in a couple of threads since I got them:

"The PS2s are great! If it wasn't for the fact that everything outside the windows looked blurred, I would have thought I was going somewhere around 50 or 60MPH.

"...no matter how fast he corners, the tires stay grounded..." --- Do you mean grounded as in on the ground or no fish tailing? Because with DTC deactivated I can definitely fish tail, but the PS2s are much better than the OEM RFTs. Don't get me wrong, the Bridgestone RFTs are great compared to a lot of the tires out there, but the PS2s are a world-class tire -- meaning not much comparison to the RFs.

Another thing I like about the PS2s are the fact that you sort of can tell when they are going to break loose. And yet even when you sense that is going to happen I can still manage to push them harder and they stay solid in corners. Took a 90 degree corner today at 40MPH (usually do it at 30MPH) and really noticed a difference between these and the Bridgestone RFTs.

If you're considering PS2s, let's put it this way: If you take corners at 30MPH or slower, stick with the Bridgestone RFTs. If you take corners at 35MPH or faster, PS2s all the way!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Night and day. I totally noticed how much smoother they are over the Potenza RFTs. Feels like going from a car with no suspension to the comfort of a Lexus. The place I feel it the most is when I'm going over speed bumps. Night and day. Simply night and day.

And I've got a ContiComfortKit in the trunk in the "secret compartment" so I don't have to worry about flats. The only real disadvantage I have over the RFTs is that if I get a blowout at high speed, I'm going to have one hell of a problem. Other than that, nothing but gains."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have any questions, just ask away. As of now, the fastest speed I've traveled on my PS2s is 115MPH and even at that speed the car felt rock solid. As I said above, if it wasn't for the fact everything outside the windows were blurred, I would have thought I was traveling 60MPH.

BTW: I paid $1,087 including tax and labor for these. A price even better than what Tire Rack offers.

Great tires! I absolutely love mine, although I must admit they are a bit overkill for everyday street use.

With all do respect, if you think the PS2s are overkill for everyday street use you must really not be the adventerous kind of person. Nearly anything you do on a track you can do on the street, given its relativity in the sense that you find a place big enough and safe enough to do the stuff you want to do. On the track you can do whatever you want whenever you want. Personally, I find the street more exciting because when the opportunity presents itself you can utilize the tire's abilites. For example, an imaginary slamom on a wide empty road. A hard and fast turn on a road you know well. And a long road for those times you wish to redline.

Fortunately, the streets around my house have all of that and more. That's why I choose the PS2s. Track racing when not on a track and yet in (almost) perfect safety.

Where do you live? I was trying to decide between PS2s or DS-G3s for my next set of tires.

Tampa, Florida. Go PS2s! You won't be disapointed. I was in the same predicament (as you might know) for over a week and after something like 10 hours of research I found the PS2s to be a better tire. Cheaper by about $13 too.

When it comes to All-around performance, yes. That's because the DS-G3s rank higher when it comes to wet traction. Albeit it's so close that it's almost not even worth thinking about.

When it comes to dry traction, the PS2s cannot be beat.

While that may be true, I prefer to not endanger the lives of others and keep it to the track. But to each his own

You're only endangering the lives of others when you don't know what you're doing.
