M factory Pumpkin and Devif lockdown kit

I just picked up my car from MNC performance in Oceanside. They flushed all my fluids serviced my tranmission and installed the M factory unit with the lockdown kit. The car is night and day compared to before with the open diff. The M factory unit was awesome they shipped it super fast and the gear whine is barely noticeable. No clunks while going from Park to Reverse or drive (auto) which is great. The lockdown kit does make a huge diffrence as well, the rear just feels planted the upgraded bushings really don't add much in noise. I will come back to update the thread after I get more seat time.

Nice! Please do update if anything comes up, my open diff needs to go ASAP but i've been lazy about getting a limited slip. M Factory seems to have really done a nice job filling the marketplace.

Also put on RBs PCV valve and cap, shop said mine was in good shape compared to others they have changed.

100% agree with you thats why I wanted to get it in before winter really comes in on New York. I will be sure post review of improvment in snow/icy conditions.

I did not do the install. MNC performance did the install for a great price.

The LSD is super quiet man I cant say enough about how surprised I am with it. I bought the lockdown kit off a member who never got around to installing it before he parted with his car. Pretty sure it's helical, only clutch type for us would be the drexler (maybe?)

If you must make references like that, you should do it in the correct order i.e Did you get the Quaife (aka Torsen) or clutch style LSD

Quaife did not invent the Helical/ATB/Torsen Differential. Gleason (i.e Torsen) did. Quaife just done a good job marketing it in Europe as if they invented it.

BTW, the OP is using the MFactory Helical LSD

We are thinking of making a Plate type LSD for the large diff, but this will be a while away yet.

Congrats..! Wish I could get an LSD, I just can't justify $1,500 or more for a posi unit. I have purchased many and never spent more then $500 new. Don't understand why these units for the 1's are so expensive.

The reason is because the 08+ MT units are welded, so require significant machining work done in order to install an LSD.

If you have a bolted unit (thru 07 MT/AT, and 08+ AT), then all that is required is the LSD unit itself which is a straight forward bolt-in. This is a lot cheaper (can be had for around $800

)

From the fact that you used the word "posi", I'm guessing you are from the Domestic market? If so, the reason why Domestic diffs are so cheap is because the majority of them are outdated technology (same technology from the '60's) with cast-iron housings. When you start moving into non-Domestic stuff, a manufacturer would be laughed at if they were selling cast-iron LSD's that are essentially just an open-diff with an oversized spring + clutch packs.

Thanks man I was gun shy for awhile sinking this kind of money into the rear of the car, but it has made the car a million times more enjoyable to drive.

From your website, I'm seeing the part number for a 135i AT is MF-TRS-05E46A, which lists for $1135. Is that correct? I don't see any BMW products (mini excepted) for $800. I'm shopping for an LSD myself right now and have been leaning towards wavetrac based on the recommendation of a local performance shop.

MSRP for our BMW Diffs is US$999.95, but we normally run specials for those who contact us looking to purchase the standalone LSD's
