From BMW Z4 to 135I!!
Hi! I`m new to the 1addicts forum. At the moment I own a special Z4 2.2 Supercharged, but want to trade it for an 135i in the spring.
My plan is to convert the exterior to 1M looks with OEM parts. Is there a problem with this? Is it possible to get OEM parts as fenders and bumper to 1M without owning one and having the VIN number? Thanks for answers My Z4

Fantastic looking zed! As far as getting parts to do your 1m conversion...why not just get the 1m?? Also keep those seats to put in your 1 series when you get it!

Ideally you'd need the full M3 suspsension (and differential) to make the wheels fit properly, and the exhaust, plus the rear fenders are flared, and seem welded into the C-pillar, so you'd need some extensive body work and paint work. I'd guess that you'd spend more modifying a 135i to look like a 1M Coupe than it would cost just to buy a 1M.

The Performance seats are converted to fit my Z4 with new brackets and deletion of side airbags, so I think they will go with the car

I think it will depend on your relationship with your local BMW dealer/Zentrum. Some might balk. But I suspect your quite friendly with your local dealership. Btw... NICE Z4!!! |

First and foremost, amazing Z4! Love it!
About converting a 135i to a 1M, it's going to be nearly impossible, so as previously suggested, you may as well just look for a 1M. They are not being produced anymore for the US market, but there are a few new ones left available - sadly with a markup (anywhere from 5-20k over msrp). You could possibly pick up one with low miles - I am aware of at least 2-3 members that are selling theirs at a reasonable price considering market pricing. |

OP is in Norway, so US sales status isn't relevant. Of course I have no idea what EU availability of the 1M is either.
I'm also not 100% sure that all of the track differences between a 1M and a non M are just wheel offset, but if you were really curious, RealOEM should hold all of the answers. |

Performance kit is boring compared to an 1M when it comes to looks. I know about the 1M hatch, he is also from Norway

Thanks for all nice comments about my Z4.
When is comes to the 135i, I just want the 1M exterior, not convert it to an 1M. My plan is 1M exterior looks with fenders, bumpers, sideskirts, mirrors, quadexhaust, some 19" wheels(not desided type and brand yet) and some carbon. KWv3 coilovers, M3 front suspension bits, ESS tune This is what my first plans is for the 135. If this cost me like $15-20 000, its ok...

With a $15-20k budget any reasonable good body shop should be able to retro fit the part's on for you and flair out the rear fendors with some good body work. That's a beautifully clean Z you got there, I'd be hard pressed to get rid of her if I owned it.

I could be wrong and I hope I am for the sake of your project, but the person with the hatch had some extensive body shop work done, which is why I said IF there are any gaps they can probably be addressed by the shop. You may want to ask him.
