Cig lighter vs USB
What voltage comes out of these units? I guess that the cig lighter is 12V but do not know the USB. I ask because I have a dashboard camera that has a USB connection to a cigarette plug. The plug has 2 USB openings. I would like to use the USB connection for one camera and the cig lighter for another camera. Is this confusing? Any comments are welcome.

The cigarette lighter holes are all ~12vdc
USB plugs are all 5vdc. The charging current output varies based on the quality of the internals Cig-> USB adapters all have an internal transformer that drops the voltage from 12VDC to 5VDC. Again, the charging output varies based on the quality of the transformer. Check your camera to see what current it needs and get a cig to USB adapter that will provide it. |
